As an applied science university, we are committed to bridging theory and practice through meaningful international partnerships. This collaboration marks an important milestone in strengthening global perspectives, academic exchange, and industry relevant design, film and media education.

We are delighted to have Ms. Hester Lau, Design Director from Steve Leung Design Group Ltd (SLD), this week in our studio.

Ms. Lau, a specialist of F&B space design, has provided a resourceful and inspiring sharing with our Interior Architecture students on the trend and changes in food & beverage space design.

We would like to thank Steve Leung Design Group Ltd. (SLD) for their long going support and collaboration with SFU Design Department.

A significant milestone in the journey of the Department of Design - a journey made possible by the generous support of our esteemed donors, Mr. Justin Lam and Mrs. Irene Lam.

Our Year 1 design students had an incredible afternoon during their visit to ! Immersed in the world of contemporary art and design, they explored major milestones in Hong Kong’s design history and gained valuable context and inspiration for their projects. The visit sparked their creativity and broadened their perspectives, leaving them full of fresh ideas and excitement for what’s to come in their creative journeys!

🌟✨ Just wrapped up an incredible three-day orientation / field trip to the Shenzhen and Guangzhou which included a visit to Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts!

This experience was truly eye-opening, diving deep into the world of design and film production in which we gained insights that will inspire our journeys in the coming years.

But what made this trip even more special? The friendships we built along the way! 🤝💖 The bonds created between fellow students and the academic team that will last a lifetime! Let’s continue to support and inspire each other as we embark on this exciting adventure together! 🌟💪

我們很高興宣布與 The Common Ground .hk 的合作，並得到 Fastfish(HK) 的全力支持！此項目深入探討香港電影黃金時代的創意詮釋，聚焦於1990年代至2000年代初的標誌性本地製作。 🎬✨

我們的一年級和二年級時裝及平面設計學生組成了八個小組，每個小組選擇了一部啟發他們獨特概念的電影。基於這些電影靈感，他們創作了原創的剪裁與縫製系列，融合了敘事深度與創新設計。

經過仔細考量，最終選出了八個傑出設計進行生產，感謝 Fastfish(HK) 的支持。這次合作體現了創意教育、文化反思與商業意識的融合，展示了設計思維如何連接產業與想像力。

🌟 *CBCC x The Common Ground Collaboration Project* 🌟

We're thrilled to announce our collaboration with The Common Ground, proudly supported by Fast Fish Global Limited! This project dives into the creative interpretations of the golden era of the Hong Kong film industry, spotlighting iconic local productions from the 1990s to early 2000s. 🎬✨

Our talented Year 1 and Year 2 Fashion and Graphic Design students have formed eight groups, each selecting a film that inspires their unique concepts. From these cinematic inspirations, they've crafted original cut-and-sewn collections that blend narrative depth with innovative design.

After careful consideration, eight standout designs were chosen for production, thanks to the support of Fast Fish Global Limited. This collaboration embodies the fusion of creative education, cultural reflection, and commercial awareness, showcasing how design thinking bridges the gap between industry and imagination.

今屆CBCC一年級時裝👗、平面🎨同室內建築🏠設計系學生聯手搞大Project！我哋好榮幸同香港耆康老人福利會合作，一齊為三間長者中心進行大改造，打造更溫暖、更貼心嘅社區空間👵👴！

呢班設計新力軍用咗成個學期，深入瞭解長者需要，由研究🔍、構思💡到製作原型✂️，每一步都充滿心思。佢哋設計嘅時裝、平面同空間方案，全部都係以人為本，兼顧無障礙同可持續性♻️，仲要促進社區互動添！
