In recent months, Australia has been shaken by a series of high-profile child abuse cases in early childhood settings, exposing critical flaws in how we vet those entrusted with the care of our youngest children.
These cases, and others like it, reveal a devastating truth: police background checks, while necessary, are not enough.
Read our latest article about how international kindergartens must go beyond background checks to build a culture of safeguarding that includes thorough recruitment, ongoing staff training, open environments, and shared accountability across the entire school community.

Our teachers do more than impart knowledge - they create safe spaces where children are seen, heard, and protected.
They are counsellors, caregivers, friends, mentors, protectors and much more.
Thank you to every teacher for your unwavering dedication, for not just shaping minds, but for protecting futures. You are true heroes in every sense. ππ

It was an absolute pleasure to work with the teachers at ULink College Guangzhou in their new campus as they prepared for the start of the academic year. We considered different key theories from psychology, neuroscience and behavioural science to identify ways that we can support students to become autonomous and intrinsically motivated learners.
It was clear that building student independence and resilience are fundamental to the school, which is so important for shaping the adults that they will become and their future life success.
Attendees were really engaged with how to foster these behaviours for learning.
It was inspiring to hear contributions and to discuss the questions that emerged during the sessions. Guangzhou ULink has an exciting year ahead, and student engagement is at the heart of this.
βThis has been the best PD session I've attended in my 7 years of teaching.β

This unseen disability has a high cost for academic performance and school attendance, as well as pupil wellbeing.
Head on over to our Insights page to read more from TeachUp's Joanne Robinson as she discusses the difficulties that neurodivergent students face and the importance of neuroinclusivity in the classroom.
