We decided to make ice cream in a bag, it's a simple but fun & engaging activity. You can add flavours or colours but we just went with milk Ice cream since Shehzad is a total milk baby!
You can introduce measurements & get them to pour in everything! They learn the whole process of how to mix up the ingredients to get the final product.

Sight Word Recognition 💧🖍️🔫
Perfect game for the summer, water fun! We used a water gun and spray bottle to make sight word recognition more exciting. Kids really enjoying learning through play. Shehzad always opts for the easy way out, haha. He wanted to use the spray bottle instead of the watergun since he had to put more effort to shoot from it. Zayden got to use chalk to doodle on the wall and Shehzad enjoyed spraying after him. Fun & engaging activity for toddlers. It helps with fine motor, co-ordination and improves listening and reading skills.

Sharing what we have been upto the last month & why we have been MIA. The last month we focussed on different kind of activities apart from the basic 'learning through play'. We concentrated more on learning good morals & values. It's not all about education and being the best at school. I strongly believe that it is important that children first learn to be good human beings! Some people say kids learn this on their own or at school, but NO! They learn this from the homes they come from, we as parents need to be the BEST role models. Toddlers are fast learners. Since it is Ramadan (a religious month where we practice self discipline, spiritual reflection, sacrifice, empathy of the less fortunate, encouraging acts of generosity & compulsory charity), I decided to teach Shehzad these values and how to be a better person. I also related some stuff to religion (every religion teaches us that we need to be good humans). Young kids dont have to fast from sunrise to sunset but that doesn't mean they shouldn't follow the rest of the good deeds done during this holy month. I made it fun for him by pulling out a 'good deed card' to do everyday and try to follow it. We made a till and collected the money to send to the less priveledged, I gave him some coins every morning telling him we are collecting to help someone. I rewarded him with stickers or candy everytime he helped clean up his toys and finished all his food without wasting. He was really motivated! I really needed to get him to learn to share, you know how kids think everything belongs to them (firstborn syndrome). We shared food with our neighbours & learnt to be grateful for all what we have by thanking God. we also gave away clothes that didnt fit but was still in great condition. He also started learning a new language (Arabic). Overall it was such an amazing month of good intentions. He even sat with us at the table when we broke fast and followed most of the rituals done during this month, an amazing learning experience! Now he is looking forward to celebrate Eid with his family!

Tried the .. Didn't expect him to wait! 😆💙😂 (I'm fasting but had to tell him to wait for me to check if he will actually do it, and he did 🥰) I think he figured I was recording 😝

Swat the letter/word 🏸🐞
Keeping toddlers engaged or interested in an activity is quite a task, you need to do things that will excite them or grab their attention. Shehzad wanted to wear his spiderman costume today, I used this opportunity to play this game asking him to act like spiderman and be fast. You can make this at home if you don't have the game, it's really fun. They are so impatient to find the letters/words. It's a good gross motor activity, improves concentration and good to test their reading/recognition skills. He even wanted me to call him spiderman, lol!
