Term-opening Service 2026–2027

Our school year began with the Term-opening Service on 1 September 2026, bringing the whole school community together to seek God’s guidance and blessings for the year ahead.

Following the Flag Raising Ceremony, the service commenced with the Call to Worship led by The Very Revd Lee On Yip Franklin. Through worship, Bible readings, prayers and the message, students and staff were encouraged to begin the new academic year with faith, hope and a renewed commitment to growing together as a school community.

Our Principal then delivered her remarks and warmly welcomed everyone back to school. The occasion also provided an opportunity to introduce our new Assistant Principals and new members of staff, as well as the new Head Prefects and Vice-Head Prefects, marking a new chapter of service and leadership within the school.

The service concluded with the Benediction, sending the school community into the new academic year with God’s blessing. The programme was followed by the Students’ Union Platform, during which the three candidate cabinets introduced themselves to fellow students.

We give thanks to God for a meaningful beginning to the 2026–2027 school year and pray that He will continue to guide our students and staff as we learn, grow and serve together throughout the year.

文化與科技交融：中文科廈門交流團圓滿結束

為了深化學生對閩南文化、傳統建築美學及現代科技發展的認識，本校中文科於7月6日至7月8日舉辦了為期三天的廈門交流團。師生一行先後走訪當地多個具代表性的景點與企業，展開了一場探索中華文化根基與現代創新的學習之旅。

行程首天，師生前往參訪著名企業施米德，了解當地前沿科技與產業營運，體會當代中國在科技發展上的創新思維與實踐精神，隨後造訪充滿藝術氣息與歷史底蘊的沙坡尾。沙坡尾作為廈門最古老的避風港，承載著傳統閩南漁民的生活記憶與航海信仰，師生在舊港口與文創區的交融中，親身體驗閩南海洋文化的演變與新舊文化的和諧共存。

交流團亦重視科普體驗與文史底蘊的結合。師生深入誠毅科技中心，透過互動展品體驗科學的奧秘，感受現代中國大國重器與科技強國的發展成就。此外，一行人走訪了古色古香的集美景區，在著名的嘉庚風格建築群中，探索融合閩南紅磚大厝與西式構造的建築美學，並從華僑領袖陳嘉庚先生興學育人的故事中，深切體會中華民族尊師重教與落葉歸根的家國情懷。行程最後，大家來到繁華的中山路步行街，細細欣賞閩南特色騎樓建築因地制宜的空間智慧，並品嚐在地特色飲食，感受閩南民俗文化的市井煙火氣，為本次考察劃上完美句號。

為期三天的交流團不僅豐富了同學的課外閱歷，更讓大家在走讀中深切感受到中華文化的博大精深與地域特色，深化了對本土文化的認同感。同學們紛紛表示收穫甚豐，期待將所學所感融入未來的學習與生活之中。

Taiwan Drama Service Tour

From 27 to 30 August this year, the Interact Club and the Chinese Drama Team co-organised a four-day, three-night Drama Service and Cultural Exchange Tour to Taipei, Taiwan.

[Drama Service in the Community: Caring for the Elderly and the Disadvantaged]
The team visited the Private Hao Jia Yuan Senior Long-Term Care Center and the non-profit organisation Do You A Flavor to deliver touring performances. The team performed their original play, Garden Pearl Bitter Tea, which revolved around Taiwanese local culture and collective memories, successfully fostering community connection. Following the performances, team members played interactive games with the service recipients to get to know one another, allowing them to feel genuine warmth and care.

Regarding drama culture, team members attended the 2026 Taipei Fringe Festival to watch We Are All Problems of Popped Balloons, the 8th production by Life Theatre, gaining deep insights into professional acting and stage blocking. Additionally, the team visited the Taipei Performing Arts Center to explore its modern theatrical architecture and spatial design, gathering rich aesthetic inspiration for future dramatic creations.

[Exploring Cultural Parks & Historic Streets: Experiencing Local Heritage]
For cultural experiences, the team visited Songshan Cultural and Creative Park and Huashan 1914 Creative Park to learn how Taiwan revitalises historic spaces into modern creative hubs. They also visited Shifen Old Street to experience traditional railway culture, along with Chifeng Street and Ximending to discover Taipei's diverse cultural charm spanning retro style and youth trends.

The four-day, three-night journey concluded successfully. Team members not only enhanced their artistic skills in drama but also brought warmth and care to local elders and the community. Special thanks to the Interact Club and the Chinese Drama Team for co-organising the event, as well as all teacher advisors and host organisations for their thoughtful arrangements, providing everyone with such a valuable overseas learning and service opportunity.

The 54th Hong Kong Open Dance Contest
Our school's Dance Team delivered an outstanding performance at the 54th Hong Kong Open Dance Contest. In the Trio category held on 6 May, our members captured the Silver Award; in the two group dance competitions held on 24 May, both of our teams went on to win Gold Awards.

As an annual highlight of Hong Kong's dance scene, the Contest has attracted over 150,000 dance enthusiasts throughout the years, including many dance troupes formed by professionals. It was therefore especially meaningful that our Dance Team stood out from the field and became the only secondary school performing unit in the Chinese Dance (Open Category) at the 54th Hong Kong Open Dance Contest: The Winners' Performance cm Prize Presentation on 5 August.

On that day, Principal Ms. Law and Vice Principal Ms. Chan came in person to support the students. This encouragement not only inspired the team members to keep exploring their talents, but also meant a great deal to our Dance Team instructor Ms. Lam and teacher-in-charge Ms. Chen, both alumnae of our school. The recognition and support from their alma mater have motivated teachers and students alike to devote themselves fully to preparing for the performances of our school's 65th Anniversary celebrations.

We are grateful for the school's full support during the 2025/26 academic year and for the dedication of teachers from various departments. We look forward to seeing the Dance Team continue to deliver remarkable performances at major competitions and on the stage of our anniversary celebrations in the 2026/27 academic year.

Our Students Achieved Outstanding Results in YLEADS
Our students participated in the Youth Literacy Excellence And Digital Skills Awards（YLEADS）under the Hong Kong Secondary School Digital Literacy and Skills Student Award Scheme and achieved excellent results, receiving 31 Bronze Awards and 15 Silver Awards. Our school was also awarded First Runner-up in the Most Active Participation Award.

The scheme is jointly organised by the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education and Hong Kong Education City, with strong support from the Education Bureau. It aims to enhance students’ digital literacy and skills, and to encourage the effective, ethical and responsible use of digital technologies.

Our students attended the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education Joint Award Ceremony 2025–2026, held on 27 June 2026 at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre during the Learning & Teaching Expo 2026. They also served as masters of ceremony, demonstrating confidence and a spirit of service to the education community.

Congratulations to all award-winning students, and sincere thanks to the teachers for their dedicated guidance.

Triumph in Seoul: BHJS Scholars Secure Top Awards and Yale ToC Qualification at World Scholar’s Cup 2026

Our World Scholar’s Cup Team members delivered a stellar performance at the World Scholar’s Cup Seoul Global Round 2026, hosted at Korea University from July 23 to 28. Competing among top delegates from around the globe, every participating Jubilee team earned qualification for the prestigious Tournament of Champions (ToC) at Yale University!

Outstanding Academic Highlights

Cheuk Yu Julius Chow and Ka Wan Charlene Chan captured the 6th Place Trophy out of 400 competing teams in the Junior Division Team Writing competition.
Out of over 1,200 scholars, Julius Chow secured 11th place overall and Charlene Chan achieved 12th place in individual writing.
Chin Cheung Thomas Chik earned 1st place in the BarelyOld Scholar category, taking home top honors for receiving the highest score among the youngest scholars competing in the Senior Division.
All three BHJS teams earned qualification for the Tournament of Champions alongside multiple Gold and Silver awards across Debate, Scholar's Bowl, Collaborative Writing, and Challenge subjects.
Beyond intense debate rounds and written challenges, our scholars enriched their global perspective through two memorable cultural excursions:

The Demilitarized Zone (DMZ): A profound and sobering visit to the border dividing North and South Korea. Standing at the threshold of world history offered our scholars an unmatched, real-world lesson in geopolitical tensions, modern history, and the enduring hope for peace.
Sungkyunkwan University: An inspiring tour of South Korea’s oldest university (founded in 1398). Scholars explored historical Joseon Dynasty Confucian lecture spaces alongside cutting-edge modern facilities, providing a unique look into Korea’s rich academic heritage and higher education culture.
We extend our warmest congratulations to all participating Jubileans for representing our school with intellectual brilliance, exemplary sportsmanship, and teamwork on the international stage. We look forward to cheering them on as they prepare for the Tournament of Champions!

BHJS Sydney Study Tour 2026 (12/7 – 25/7): A Journey of Learning & Exploration 🇦🇺✈️

Over the past two weeks, from 12/7 to 25/7, our students had the fantastic opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant culture and academic environment of Sydney, Australia!

Combining interactive English & Global Citizen classes with authentic homestay experiences, our students gained invaluable cross-cultural communication skills. Beyond the classroom, they explored historical sights like Hyde Park Barracks, engaged with Aboriginal culture, visited the University of Sydney, and took in the breathtaking landscapes of Port Stephens and the Blue Mountains. 🏔️🌊 Every day brought a fresh adventure, from walking across the iconic Harbour Bridge to seeing live musical performances of The Lion King and discovering native wildlife up close. 🦘🎭

We are so proud of our students for stepping out of their comfort zones and becoming true global citizens! 🎓🌟

第五屆「金筆獎」中文硬筆書法比賽

由香港宋慶齡基金、WE LIKE HONG KONG主辦，香港故宮文化博物館聯辦的第五屆「金筆獎」中文硬筆書法比賽已圓滿結束。本屆比賽旨在弘揚書法藝術，引導青少年透過書寫培養平靜、理性與穩定的品格。我校1E班江浩旭同學憑藉端正秀麗的字體，與契合「謙和」此主題內蘊的筆意，在逾六萬份作品脫穎而出，勇奪中學組銀獎殊榮！

頒獎典禮日前（7月10日）於香港故宮文化博物館隆重舉行。江同學不僅於藝術殿堂中獲頒榮譽，更有機會一睹兩地書法精英的墨寶。盼同學們能以江同學為榜樣，藉書寫之美學習傳統儒家文化，建立正面積極的生活價值觀。

"Healthy Life, No Drugs" Generative AI Poster Design Competition

To ensure our students keep pace with the times while cultivating upright values, the Citizenship, Economics and Society Department recently led students to participate in the "Healthy Life, Drug-Free Journey" Generative AI Poster Design Competition (2025/26), co-organised by the Education Bureau and The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups. Prior to the competition, teachers accompanied students to a preparatory workshop on March 7, where they learned how to utilise generative AI tools for poster design, thereby enhancing their digital literacy as well as their media and information literacy. This event aimed to equip students with hands-on information technology skills in AI generation while encouraging them to reflect on the dangers of drugs and establish a positive outlook on life during the creative process. Our students achieved outstanding results in the competition; notably, Wong Ching Lam from Class 2B stood out among numerous contestants with his creative design and profound anti-drug message, winning the Merit Award and being invited to receive the award at the presentation ceremony within the Learning & Teaching Expo. Furthermore, thanks to the enthusiastic support and active participation of all our students, our school was also honoured with the Bronze Award for Most Active Participating School—a truly commendable achievement! The school once again congratulates Wong Ching Lam and expresses heartfelt gratitude to our teachers for their dedicated guidance and to all students for their enthusiastic involvement. We hope our students will continue to embrace new challenges, unleash their potential in diverse competitions, and work together to promote a healthy and drug-free campus life!
