From Open House to full house! Founders Toastmasters packed the room for Open House under the theme “Finding Your Leading Voice.”
Division G Director Simon Wong opened the evening with the What, Why and How of Toastmasters, walking first-time guests through the background of Toastmasters and how Pathways helps members build communication and leadership skills.
Our founding member, Bernard Lee, shared a video on our history and the values of joining Founders.
Guest speaker Nikki Yu delivered her prepared speech, “The Art of Being a Beginner.” After that, our new member Ben Choy sat down for a fireside chat with guest interviewer Shoni Wang. Ben shared how Toastmasters started for him, and how first-timers can begin their own journey and speak with confidence.
The night also brings a featured workshop, “Finding Your Funny Bone,” led by Ng Yeung Hing (VPE of Victoria Toastmasters Club). He showed us how to build humor and connect with the audience.
Of course, we have Table Topics, led by Blanche Gönczi, letting members and guests think on their feet on a series of fun topics!
Last but not least, we really appreciate the acknowledgment and the constructive feedback from our guest General Evaluator, Eddie Lee!
The Open House wouldn't make it without the support from our members: Irene Kwok, Josie James, Bernard Lee, Simon Wong, Bharat Nangia, Blanche Gönczi, and Ben Choy for preparing and taking on different roles during the meeting. And a warm thank you to our guest speakers and facilitators who help us throughout the meeting: Ng Yeung Hing, Nikki Yu, Shoni Wang, Eddie Lee, Jacky Chiang, Paul Lam, and Corinna Yuen!
