We wrapped an inspiring study trip: THEi 高科院 時裝設計課程 — 粵港時尚產業交流暨研習團 2026. A day in Guangzhou: sourcing, styling and industry insight. 🚌✨🧵
At THEi — Fashion Design (FD) we believe learning extends beyond the studio. This one‑day immersive visit brought our career‑ready students straight into the fashion ecosystem — from fabric markets and creative studios to the operations of global players — so they could see, touch and learn the realities of industry practice. We visited Baiyun Design Capital (白雲設計之都), where creative studios, an outdoor catwalk and trend hubs sparked fresh concepts; explored Guangzhou International Textile City (廣州國際輕紡城) with over 3,000 stores under one roof, a bustling source of fabrics, trims and production possibilities; and gained first‑hand insight into the workflow, speed and emerging trends of major fashion businesses.
Students returned with practical, industry‑ready skills: hands‑on fabric scouting that helped many source real materials to realise their designs; clear understanding of production and sourcing from sampling to scale; and new professional connections that are opening doors to collaborations, internships and careers.
We were grateful to Dr Janae Chan (Styling Director, TVB star academy- 聲夢傳奇) for her energetic session on styling, trend direction and career pathways, and to Miss Pierren Yip, founder of Style and Shine, for sharing practical insights on design, buying, events and for creating opportunities for our students.
Thank you to THEi SAO Subsidy, the Rotary Club of Island East, HKS Group International Limited (香港紗廠), and especially to 廣州市白雲區港澳青年創新創業服務中心, 廣州設計之都促進會, and 廣州國際輕紡城 for their hospitality and strong support of this experiential learning opportunity.
Programme like this demonstrate the value of cross-institutional collaboration and real‑world exposure in preparing culturally informed, industry‑ready designers.

Grateful to Professor Yeung of Gratia Christian College for inviting me and our Fashion Management students to yesterday’s Master Lecture - In the era of climate change, business as usual? It was a valuable opportunity to share insights and exchange ideas on sustainability in the fashion industry, and on the challenges and opportunities in global trade and management.
A special highlight was the distinguished guest speaker, Ar Professor Wong Kam Sing, GBS, JP (黃錦星教授) — former Secretary for the Environment, HKSAR (2012–2022) and current Chairman of the 無止橋慈善基金. We gained important perspectives from him on environmental protection, climate change and carbon emissions — issues that are central to the future of fashion and global commerce.
Thank you to Professor Yeung, Professor Wong, and all the students who participated. I look forward to continuing the conversation and translating these insights into meaningful, sustainable action.
