| Picnic Activity Idea |🌿🌻Nature Jar Sticker Craft🌻🌿 |
This was a fun idea and it was great to see 3 year olds and 7 year olds enjoying the same activity. The craft pack came with dried flowers and leaves. But it would be the best if the kids explored the park to find things to add to their jar.

I found these GIANT leaves in Chater Garden and shamelessly collected the fallen ones for my classroom. Natural materials are the best learning materials.
What would you use these leaves for?
The moment I took the leaves out, the kids immediately started exploring. They were eager to touch and feel the texture, at the same time discovering different ways to play with them. Like using it as a fan and flapping around with two big leaves as wings.

It's been a while, IG! Happy to be back on here to share again. Hope all of you teachers are having a great start of the school year!
If you ever come across teaching long vowels, this unicorn craft is perfect for helping kids remember the long "u" sound. Disclaimer, I did not come up with this craft idea, it's from Pinterest. It's so easy to make and it looks so pretty. After making this, my student literally said, "I'm so happy!!!!" Happy learning!

Toys are not just for young kids, older kids can definitely still benefit from playing toys too. Here are a few "toys" that this primary student likes to play with to de-stress: slime, sudoku, and the Rubik's cube.
One of 's mindful habits cards reminds us that play doesn't have to stop just because we're growing older 😉

There are soooo many creative ways to introduce 3D shapes to kids. This day, we used a pack of Japanese gummy blocks to build a 3D structure. It worked pretty well to my surprise and of course, my student decided to eat his structure afterwards.

It's getting hot here in Hong Kong. I'm sure you'll want something that begins with the 'f' sound- a FAN!
We were exploring the sound 'f' in class and brainstorming things that begin with that sound. A kid suddenly said, "Fan! I want to make a fan!" And that's exactly what we did. She took the lead and taught everyone how to make a fan with paper :) let the kids take the lead in learning, it can be quite fun!

Did you go outdoors this weekend?
The weather is warming up here in Hong Kong and it's been so nice out. Playgrounds aren't open yet but you can still find tons of things to play with outdoors. It's good for kids to interact with nature and see what kind of play they can come up with!

A useful tip for beading: tape the string to the table!
When I was teaching in a school, I used to set up beading activities for kids to make bracelets and necklaces. This tip saved me from a lot of beads splattering all over the place moments. Also, kids are more motivated when the set up helps them succeed, especially younger kids with developing fine motor skills.

To all the teachers who are feeling like you are not doing much, the little things you do can shape the future of a little one. I was talking to teachers recently who are constantly drowning in paperwork and admin work on top of the day to day teaching. It's easy to lose sight of the purpose of what we do oftentimes. But I just want to say, you're doing something lifechanging every single day.

Happy weekend!
Any moment can be a good learning opportunity for kids. Here's a photo of a spontaneous cookie math time while having snacks.

*Spoilers Alert*
I've Broken My Bum by Dawn McMillan and Ross Kinnaird is one of the most hilarious books out there. It's such a fun read for kids and I totally enjoyed it myself as well. They have a series of bum related books, go check them out!
My students decided to recreate the bum being stuck on a tray situation and glued the little rubber figures onto paper trays that they cut out. We then built a long paper slide and had so much fun sliding them down.
