Sarawak International Open Bowling Championships 2026

We are delighted to share the outstanding achievement of our student, Neptunus Leung (F.1), at the Sarawak International Open Bowling Championships 2026 in Kuching, Malaysia.

Representing Hong Kong, China, Neptunus helped Team Hong Kong, China capture the 2026 Sabati Cup in the 4-game Bakers’ Format trios event. The team finished first with an impressive total of 934 pins, securing victory by 10 pins.

Congratulations to Neptunus on this remarkable international achievement. We are proud of his dedication, skill and sporting spirit, and wish him continued success in his future competitions.

School Opening Assembly and Mass

Our new academic year began with the School Opening Assembly on 1 September, followed by the School Opening Mass on 2 September, bringing our school community together not only to begin another year of learning, but also to place our journey in God’s hands. We were grateful to welcome Reverend Father Bernardo Cervellera as the celebrant of our Opening Mass.

In his homily, Fr Bernardo reminded us why we begin the school year with prayer. In a world where circumstances can change unexpectedly, academic results, careers and our own abilities alone cannot guarantee our future. Instead, we are invited to place our trust in Jesus Christ, who accompanies us through both successes and difficulties.

One message particularly resonated with us: “The future is a promise”. With Christ beside us, we need not face the future with fear. Through His love, even our challenges and failures can be transformed into opportunities for growth.

Fr Bernardo also reminded us that true education is more than acquiring knowledge and skills. Rooted in our Lasallian mission, it is about becoming mature people who know how to love, forgive and care for others. During the Mass, our new Catholic Society committee was also commissioned, beginning their mission to foster the Catholic spirit of our school and encourage fellow Lasallians to put their faith into action.

As we begin this new academic year, may we grow in faith, wisdom and love, trusting that our future is indeed a joyful promise because Jesus Christ is with us.

UK Summer Study Trip

From 7 to 22 July, 2026, twenty two F.1-F.4 students from the College participated in a study tour based at Kingswood School in Bath, UK. Combining fun with experiential learning, the boys had a wonderful time throughout their two-week stay. They attended interactive English lessons, joined afternoon sports and drama, and enjoyed day trips to historic attractions including London, Oxford, Bristol, Stonehenge, and the Roman Baths.

Reflecting on the tour, the students noted how the experience fostered independence, built teamwork, and enhanced their cross-cultural communication skills. We extend our sincere appreciation to teacher advisers Mr. Parko Chan and Mr. Leo Kam for their dedicated guidance, leadership, and care throughout the journey.

Empowering Educators: Enhancing Digital Literacy and Classroom Engagement

To empower our teaching team with the latest in digital literacy, we began the new school year with a series of workshops from 26-28 August. An interactive Gemini Educator Workshop was organised for all staff members, allowing our teachers to gain hands-on experience exploring various features of Gemini and NotebookLM. They discovered how to seamlessly adapt these tools to create dynamic learning materials for our students.

Aligned with our annual goal of fostering active classroom engagement, teachers also participated in a peer lesson demonstration. This session highlighted how integrating AI features into group work can significantly enhance discussion quality and student collaboration. It concluded with an interactive Q&A between teachers and students, offering valuable insights into student learning needs to ensure our teaching remains centred on their growth.

Together, we are paving the way for an innovative and engaging learning environment.

URA x PolyU Igniting Social Innovation Competition 2026

Our Geography students participated in the URA x PolyU Igniting Social Innovation Competition 2026, showcasing their creativity and dedication to driving our city towards sustainability. Using 360 technology, AI, and GIS, they developed innovative place-making ideas for the urban renewal of the Flower Market and Central and Western District, proposing solutions that preserve local culture while stimulating business activity and enhancing quality of life. We are delighted to congratulate S. H. Leung (F.5) and C.C. Chau (F.4) on receiving the Best Team Player Award.

The award presentation ceremony was held with Mr. Chan Kwok-ki, GBS, IDSM, JP, Chief Secretary for Administration, as the Guest of Honour. During the ceremony, C.C. Chau (F.4) was invited to engage in a dialogue with the Chief Secretary for Administration, sharing his innovative ideas on addressing social needs and exploring how AI driven social innovation could help revitalise old urban areas and promote sustainable development.

38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026)

We are thrilled to share the extraordinary achievements of our students at the 38th International Olympiad in Informatics (IOI 2026) held in Uzbekistan. Representing Hong Kong, our boys contributed to the city’s best-ever performance, ranking 6th globally among 92 countries and regions.

Our students achieved the following remarkable results:

Hong Kong 2nd Board Game Design Competition 2026

Our boys participated in the Hong Kong 2nd Board Game Design Competition 2026 and achieved an outstanding 2nd Runner Up Overall among 30 participating teams. After a rigorous selection process, our team successfully advanced to the grand finals and delivered a stellar performance.

Throughout the second term, the team dedicated countless hours to transforming their creative ideas into a playable prototype. They showcased immense versatility, blending skills in artistic creation, strategic presentation, and unwavering team spirit to achieve this remarkable award.

Dunhuang Study Tour

Our Chinese History Study Tour recently took student participants to Dunhuang, where we explored the ancient Silk Road and gained hands-on learning experiences connected to China’s cultural, historical, and religious development.

We began at the scenic Mingsha Mountain (鳴沙山) and Crescent Lake (月牙泉), where students also tried sand sliding (滑沙). To deepen their understanding of the region’s cultural and religious history, we visited the famous Mogao Caves (莫高窟) and Yulin Caves (榆林窟). We then traveled to the historic frontiers of Yangguan Pass (陽關) and Yumen Pass (玉門關). The trip concluded with two immersive activities: watching the Dunhuang theater show, 《又見敦煌》劇場, and participating in a cultural workshop to try mural mud-plaque painting (泥板畫臨摹).

Overall, this study tour delivered a multi-sensory, classroom-connected learning experience that strengthened students’ curiosity, expanded their historical perspective, and nurtured a lasting appreciation for China’s cultural heritage. By observing the sites firsthand, interpreting what they saw thoughtfully, and creating through hands-on practice, students gained deeper understanding and more meaningful connections to the past.
