This is a narrative writing written by a Primary 3 student from Singapore International School, vividly describing her encounter with monkeys during a picnic in the countryside.

📖 Many local schools have incorporated English readers into their curriculum to promote English reading habits. These readers help children to: 1) gradually build vocabulary; 2) develop reading comprehension skills; 3) master word combinations; 4) enhance writing skills; 5) understand verb tenses.

”Tilly and Millie drove past tall buildings and busy streets. They drove up hills and around bends. They traveled up long, winding roads.“

The example above uses past tense verbs ”drove“ and ”traveled,“ along with descriptive adjectives ”long“ and ”winding“ to describe the roads. This varied expression makes the text more engaging while helping children learn to incorporate different adjectives and tenses in their writing.
