Did you know Hong Kong is home to roughly 10% of the world’s remaining Yellow-crested Cockatoos? 🦜

Right now, these critically endangered birds are facing a major "housing crisis," with typhoons and tree pruning wiping out over 60% of their natural tree hollows.

To help, researchers from the HKU School of Biological Sciences have teamed up with QBS to build and install a custom artificial nest box in Victoria Park. It’s a brilliant collaborative effort giving these iconic urban birds a vital lifeline while teaching the next generation about hands-on conservation!

Battle of the Books Semi-Finals at QBS!

Yesterday, QBS was buzzing with literary excitement as we hosted the semi-finals of the Battle of the Books Hong Kong competition! It was a pleasure to welcome teams, coaches, and parents from five different schools to our campus for an intense morning of high-energy competition!

Across 15 exciting rounds of gruelling questions, every school displayed fantastic teamwork, detailed book knowledge and a wonderful school spirit!

We are incredibly proud to announce that the QBS team won our group's semi-finals! Our students' hard work and dedication to their reading lists have truly paid off, and we are officially moving on to the Finals in two weeks!

Beyond the competition, it was a wonderful celebration of a shared love for reading, communication skills, and our vibrant school community. Huge thanks to everyone who cheered our readers on.

This week, our community was treated to two spectacular nights of music, and we couldn’t be prouder. From the soaring voices of our Primary Choirs to the incredible precision of the Orchestra, it was a masterclass in musicality.

A huge shoutout to the 116 QBS students who took the stage! Your performances were a true testament to your dedication, talent, and months of hard work. You represented QBS and ESF with such grace and heart.

Thank you to all the staff and parents who supported our young artists on this journey. We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Our Year 3 students have been getting creative today! By linking their Sharing the Planet Unit of Inquiry with the 5Rs—Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, Repurpose, and Recycle—they’ve mastered the art of upcycling, proving that a little imagination can give old materials a beautiful second life.

This week, our Year 6 students are embarking on an unforgettable journey of discovery, exploring Beijing's iconic landmarks or rediscovering Hong Kong's rich cultural tapestry.

By immersing themselves in local traditions and practising their Mandarin in authentic settings, they are developing the empathy, language skills, and independence that define a global learner.
