🎓 Welcome to ENGG2202: Engineering Challenges II
Turn classroom knowledge into real-world engineering impact this semester!

💡 Course Overview
ENGG2202 is a project-based free elective where you’ll work in multidisciplinary teams to tackle open-ended engineering challenges. Through brainstorming, site visits, prototype building, testing, and iteration, you’ll turn ideas into working solutions. 🚀

🛠️ Project Topics
Choose from one of these exciting challenges:
• 🤖 Intelligent Systems for Healthy and Resilient Buildings
• 🌱 Green Innovations for ESG-Driven Sustainable Urban Living
• 🚁 Unmanned Aerial Systems for Safer and Smarter City
• 🦾 Wearable Robotics for Work and Wellness
📚 Core Disciplines Integrated

You’ll apply knowledge across:
• AI & Programming
• Mechanics & Mechatronics
• Electrical & Electronic Fundamentals
• Mathematics & Statistics

🗓️ How It Works
• Runs across both semesters
• Bi-weekly workshops
• Continuous guidance from instructors through hands-on learning and regular project meetings.

📋 How to Enroll
• Enroll via SIS on the HKU Portal
• Online course selection begins in early August 2026
• Check the AAS website at https://aas.hku.hk/important-academic-dates/ -id-1 for the detailed schedule.

Eligibility: Open to Year 2 (or above) Engineering students enrolled in BEng(CivE), BEng(CE/EE/ElecE), BEng(DASE), or BEng(ME) in AY2026/27.
Pre-requisite: ENGG1101 or ENGG1320

Four scholars from the Mechanical Engineering have been named to Clarivate Analytics’ Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list.

According to Clarivate Analytics, a total of 6,868 scholars from 60 countries and regions worldwide have been named Highly Cited Researchers in 2025. Highly Cited Researchers are selected for their exceptional research performance, determined by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their fields and publication year in Web of Science over the past decade.
