Four scholars from the Mechanical Engineering have been named to Clarivate Analyticsโ Highly Cited Researchers 2025 list.
According to Clarivate Analytics, a total of 6,868 scholars from 60 countries and regions worldwide have been named Highly Cited Researchers in 2025. Highly Cited Researchers are selected for their exceptional research performance, determined by production of multiple highly cited papers that rank in the top 1% by citations for their fields and publication year in Web of Science over the past decade.

Professor Mingxin Huang of the Department of Mechanical Engineering has been named among the Newly Elected Fellows of the Hong Kong Academy of Engineering Sciences (HKAE) for 2025, for his pioneering inventions in advanced steels, including anti-COVID stainless steel and ultra-corrosion-resistant alloys for green hydrogen.๐๐

๐ ๏ธWe were excited to welcome students from four local secondary schools to dive into the amazing world of robotics and engineering at the HKU Engineering X EDB Robotic Spider Workshop! This hands-on workshop fuelled their curiosity and creativity as they built their very own fully functional crawling robotic spiders from scratch. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement as participants delved into cutting-edge engineering concepts and brought their creations to life! โ๏ธโจ
โจThe climax of the workshop is a heart-pounding competition. Students get to control their self-built robotic spiders to navigate the racing lane and push a ball across the finish line, showcasing their innovation and teamwork!
