**Recently, I have felt deeply saddened.**
There is too much darkness and malice in the world.
As desire grows, so too does the cruelty of the human heart.

A rat gnaws greedily at the harvest of others.

Yet beneath the shadowed sky, I still believe
that kind and beautiful souls continue, in countless ways,
to bless this world with tireless love,
and that their branches remain heavy with fruit.

# Torn Paper Art #
Torn paper art, long missed, has always been my favorite.
Recently, I had the pleasure of meeting the talented Sharon, a teacher whose work is exceptional.
Each beautiful piece of washi (Japanese paper) she uses stands out with its unique colors and textures.

**Good Life**
Life has its way, and all things have a spirit;
There is spring and summer, there is autumn and winter;
Flowers bloom and wither, there is birth and death.
Every night, I pray that people never lose hope in life.

Look! Butterflies are flying, and the branches are still lush.
"Living well" is our mission.

# # Yin Carving and Yang Cutting # #

Chinese paper cutting is an ancient folk art rich in cultural significance. Created with scissors or carving knives, its techniques are mainly divided into "Yin Carving" and "Yang Cutting."

**Yin Carving** involves hollowing out the main subject while preserving the background. It uses negative space to showcase intricate details and is commonly seen in lanterns and window decorations, creating a sculptural visual effect.

**Yang Cutting** retains the main subject and removes the background, resulting in bold and vivid patterns. This technique is suitable for festive decorations like greeting cards, emphasizing bright colors and simple compositions.

The combination of Yin Carving and Yang Cutting often enhances the depth of a piece. For instance, Yin Carving can depict background textures, while Yang Cutting highlights the main subjects, making the artwork more dynamic and three-dimensional.

# Paper Cutting # #

Today, I taught six elder brothers and sisters paper cutting.
The eldest sister is 86 years old.
Just as Tao Yuanming loved the lotus, so do we.
In a serene environment, listening to guqin music,
we cut papers with great joy.

# # Chinese Window Paper Cutting (窗花剪紙)

Chinese window paper cutting, also known as "窗花剪紙," is an ancient and fascinating form of folk art. It involves using scissors or carving knives to create symmetrical and intricate patterns on red paper. These paper cuttings are then pasted on windows to enhance the festive atmosphere, especially during celebrations like weddings or traditional festivals.

The patterns in window paper cuttings are rich in auspicious meanings and often feature themes such as fish, flowers, and legendary stories. These designs are simple yet artistically beautiful, making them deeply cherished by people. Today, window paper cutting has been recognized as an intangible cultural heritage.

Picking up a pair of scissors, I tried creating a few designs just for fun.
