The Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Zhu Rongji, The People’s Republic of China’s 5th Premier (1998–2003). and member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Chinese Communist Party (1992–2002)!

This is to convey on behalf of our Arab Chamber and its members my/our deepest and most heartfelt condolences for His passing.

And by the present, would also like to express our profound sympathy to His family, the PRC Government, the CCP, and all the Chinese people for this tremendous loss.

I/We mourn with you, honor His legacy, and remain committed to our steadfast friendship and cooperation with the PRC as He would have wanted!

THE ARAB CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY’ PRESIDENT LORD EDWIN HITTI HONORED TO BE INVITED BY THE NG TENG FONG · SINO GROUP BELT AND ROAD RESEARCH INSTITUTE AT HONG KONG CHU HAI COLLEGE FOR AN ON CAMPUS INSTITUTIONAL VISIT AND STRATEGIC EXCHANGE

Hong Kong Chu Hai College’s President Ms. Jane Zhang, Director Prof. Thomas M.H. Chan, and Mr. Joseph N.K. Chan, welcomed Lord Edwin for a two-hour address with senior management and team.

Theme of the exchange being the growing historical, commercial, and educational ties between Hong Kong and the Arab world, as strengthening research and trade networks is a key priority.

As a leading research institute in Hong Kong, topics shared were the Belt and Road Initiative economies, insights into the Middle Eastern trade corridors and impetus of the Greater Bay Area, actively leveraging Hong Kong’s role as a super-connector to advance academic, corporate, and cross-border collaborations.

Founded in 2017, The Ng Teng Fong · Sino Group Belt and Road Research Institute (formerly known as “One Belt One Road Research Institute”) of the Hong Kong Chu Hai College is a specialized academic institution focused on the development, geoeconomics, and implementation of China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI); offering specialized degrees of “Master of Social Sciences in International Business Management for Belt and Road Countries,” and “Master of Social Sciences in International Relations for Belt and Road Countries”.

THE ARAB CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY’S PRESIDENT LORD EDWIN E. HITTI DELIGHTED TO ATTEND THE PROMOTION SYMPOSIUM OF THE 26TH CIFIT

The Arab Chamber of Commerce & Industry’s President Lord Edwin E. Hitti was among select dignitaries at the Promotion Symposium for the 26th China International Fair for Investment and Trade (CIFIT) major conference in Hong Kong designed to enhance cross-border project matchmaking and investment cooperation with the Chinese mainland.

The overarching 26th CIFIT is scheduled to take place at the Xiamen International Expo Center from September 8 to September 11, 2026 structured around three core sections – “Invest in China”, “International Investment”, and “Chinese Investment” – this year’s CIFIT event is expected to attract tens of thousands of exhibitors and visitors, including official delegations and business groups, from around the world.

The Symposium highlighted how Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan will serve as strategic partners in joint investment promotion, capital matchmaking, and the "Invest in China" initiative.

THE ARAB CHAMBER OF COMMERCE & INDUSTRY’S PRESIDENT LORD EDWIN E. HITTI RECEIVED BY THE INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION FOR MEDIATION’S (IOMED’S) HEADQUARTERS IN HONG KONG

The Arab Chamber Of Commerce & Industry’s President Lord Edwin E. Hitti in the company of Mr. Behzad Mirzaei were received by the IOMed Secretary-General: Prof. Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah, and Deputy Secretary-General: Dr. Sun Jin.

The IOMed is the world’s first intergovernmental international legal organization dedicated to mediation, with the organization’s functions and status modelled on the International Court of Justice and the Permanent Court of Arbitration at The Hague, Netherlands.

In an increasingly conflict prone world, the discussions and consultations evolved around the unique role IOMed is predisposed to render in state-to-state and investor-state conflicts resolution, exploring the practical and far-reaching value of mediation for governments and business sectors alike, as well as compatibility of the ‘Islamic mediation’ (Sulh) and secular mediation' ecosystems offered by the IOMed.

Lord Edwin E. Hitti and Mr. Behzad Mirzaei on behalf of The ArabCham and its ‘International Islamic Mediation & Arbitration Centre’ (IMAC) in Hong Kong, reiterated their full support of the IOMed mission and prospects.
