藥物治療通常以最低劑量開始,再慢慢調較至適合患者體質和有效的劑量。試藥過程 可能需長達6-8個星期。教師可以在學生試藥期間幫忙觀察及通知家長學生以下的狀況, 以協助醫生準確地安排治療:

1. 服藥前後的學業狀況(如:學業成績 及遞交功課紀錄等)
2. 藥效及有否減輕ADHD症狀(如:提 高專注力、減少衝動及過動行為)
3. 任何副作用 (如:食慾不振、頭疼、 腸胃不適、疲倦、嘔吐、暈眩、心 跳加速、情緒變化)
4. 藥力減退時,留意任何負面情緒、 疲倦、恢復ADHD症狀等狀況

Pharmacological treatment is typically initiated with the lowest dosage, which is gradually increased until optimised – this is called dosage titration, and can take up to 6-8 weeks. Teachers can assist psychiatrists in optimising treatment arrangements for students treated with medications by observing and informing their parents about the following behaviours:

1. Academic performance before and after medication (e.g. academic achievements, assignment submission record)
2. Effectiveness of medication and any reduction in symptoms (e.g. improved attention, reduced impulsivity or hyperactivity)
3. Any side effects (e.g. appetite loss, headache, abdominal and stomach upset, fatigue, nausea/ vomiting, dizziness, higher resting heart rate, emotional changes)
4. When medication wears off, take note of any negative emotions, fatigue, or rebound of ADHD symptoms etc.

ADHD 治療可大致分爲兩組:藥物治療和非藥物治療,如輔導、行為治療、家庭教育。雖然 ADHD 患者無法完全痊愈,但患者透過治療可大幅減少症狀, 例如專注力不足、過動和衝動等行爲。治療目的主要是減低ADHD症狀的嚴重性與影響及改善患者心理健康、學業、職業等方面的生活水平。

Treatment for ADHD can be categorized into two groups – pharmacological and non-pharmacological (e.g. counselling, behavioral therapy, family education). While there is no cure for ADHD, combining therapy and medication treatments can effectively reduce ADHD symptoms. Treatment aims to reduce ADHD symptom severity, impairment, and to improve quality of life in terms of psychological well-being, occupational functioning, and educational functioning.

上堂分神或表現好動不一定是ADHD的症狀!
不過,如果以上所述情況符合下例所有條件,就須多加留意:
1. 在年幼開始(12歲前)持續出現
2. 持續 6個月或以上;分別發生在多於1個環境
3. 對學術及成長表現直接造成負面影響

Dozing off at class or being active doesn't necessary mean that you have ADHD! However, do pay closer attention (and seek professional advice) if the above mentioned condition:
1. has persisted from a young age (before 12 years old)
2. has existed for more than 6 months and has occurred in more than 1 environment
3. has directly impaired quality of social, school, or work functions
