With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI) in recent years, the technology has become an important tool for some top scorers looking to boost their performance, though they said they had remained cautious and avoided overreliance on it.
Caron Fung Yuet-kiu, a top scorer at the True Light School of Hong Kong, said she had used some AI tools, such as DeepSeek, for Chinese writing inspiration and even for English speaking practice when she could not find anyone to talk to.

The later you apply, the less time you have to prepare for the course. This is important as everyone needs to complete the ‘Starter Pack’ before day 1 of the course. Unlike a lot of other tech, adoption of AI in education isn’t being driven by governments, schools, or even teachers. It’s being driven by students. It doesn’t matter whether you think AI is the best thing since sliced bread or an evil apparatus that will destroy education. Your students are already using it. There are only two options for educators. Allow students to use AI however they want or teach students how to use AI responsibly.
