Speaker: Michael Losavio, an Associate Professor teaching in the Department of Criminal Justice and the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Louisville, Louisville, Kentucky, U.S.A. on issues of law, society and information assurance in the computer engineering and criminal justice disciplines. His focus is on law and social sciences as they relate to computer engineering, analytics, and digital forensics. Courses include Digital and Computer Crime, Transnational Cybercrime and Legal Issues with Data Mining and Information Assurance.

He holds a J.D. in Law and a B.S. in Mathematics from Louisiana State University, Louisiana, U.S.A. He has lectured on computer law and crime at Perm State University and on cybersecurity for law enforcement at the Kosovo Academy for Public Safety as a Fulbright Specialist.

Topic: “How does ChatGPT obtain its ability and its impacts”

Speaker: Dr Qi LIU, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Hong Kong. Dr LIU earned his Ph.D. in computer science from the University of Oxford and his M.Sc. degree from the National University of Singapore. His research findings have been published in leading machine learning conferences and journals, including NeurIPS, ACL, TACL, and CVPR. He also received the AI 2000 Most Influential Scholar Award in 2022.

ChatGPT has achieved phenomenal growth, gaining over 100 million monthly active users within just two months of its launch. Its potential to disrupt various fields, including information retrieval, virtual assistant, and programming, is significant.

[HKU-SCF High School Student Workshop Series – Protecting Your Personal Data]

The Academy organised a workshop for high school students this morning to raise their interest and awareness in technology and how to protect personal data! We are very happy to meet these young Tech enthusiasts face-to-face at HKU InnoWing!

We hope that all of the participants could learn some common and non-common hacking traps, how easy their personal data is leaked, and how to protect their personal data.
