CIMA has submitted strategic policy recommendations to Mr John KC Lee, GBM, SBS, PDSM, PMSM, Chief Executive of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region ahead of his Hong Kong's first Five-Year Plan and 2026 Policy Address.

Based on a survey of CIMA members and students in Hong Kong, CIMA have recommended seven practical measures to strengthen competitiveness, productivity and livelihoods, while maintaining fiscal discipline and supporting alignment with the National 15th Five-Year Plan. The proposals focus on talent development, AI adoption, capital market growth, workforce participation and sustainable economic development.

As technology and AI reshapes the business landscape, RISE2040: Shaping the Future of Finance and Accounting is helping the profession explore and shape what comes next. Through Future Forums across 25 countries, more than 6,000 professionals have contributed insights that are helping inform how AICPA & CIMA supports members, firms and organisations worldwide.

Academics and finance professionals came together for the Road to 2040: From Vision to Action, sharing insights on AI, technology, talent, trust and new value creation models that are reshaping the profession in Hong Kong and beyond.

The World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), China’s largest annual event for the AI industry, is a premier global event dedicated to exploring the frontiers of AI technology and driving innovation in the field. The four-day conference, held alongside the High-Level Meeting on Global AI Governance, commenced on 17 July 2026 in Shanghai, bringing together government leaders, industry pioneers, academics, and technology experts to shape the future of AI development and governance.

Vicky Li, FCMA, CGMA, Vice President, North Asia, AICPA & CIMA, spoke at 2026 World Artificial Intelligence Conference Intelligent Finance Forum - Global perspective, breaking the mould: redefining the paradigm of intelligent finance on 19 July. She hosted a panel discussion with Ms Lihong Wang, Chairwoman, Subway China Holdings and Dr. Zhou Ye, Founder, Chairman and CEO of Huifu Payment Ltd, Part-time professor at the Shanghai National Accounting Institute, Adjunct Professor of Shanghai Advanced Institute of Finance (SAIF). Speakers agreed that finance professionals are evolving into strategic business partners. By leveraging technology, finance teams can help drive better decisions and create sustainable business value. Vicky also highlighted the recent launch of RISE2040: Shaping the Future of Finance and Accounting, by AICPA and CIMA, a global initiative led by finance professionals from around the world. AICPA and CIMA are committed to supporting finance professionals as they embrace the era of artificial intelligence, seize the opportunities created by technological transformation.

The CGMA A Star summer camp, held from 4 –11 July 2026, has successfully concluded. Guided by the inspiring mission of “Developing China’s Future Finance Leaders,” this talent development programme brought together a selected cohort of elite business students from across North Asia.

Throughout the intensive week-long journey, participants gained valuable insights into strategic management accounting, strengthened their business acumen and developed leadership capabilities. Dr. Aidan Goddard FCMA, CGMA, received the CIMA Silver Medal at CIMA’s Annual General Meeting 2026 in recognition of his exceptional leadership and contributions to promoting CIMA, CGMA designation and finance profession in Hong Kong and North Asia.

For nearly 20 years, Aidan has been a passionate advocate for the finance profession, serving as a speaker, mentor, member assessor, CGMA Global Business Challenge (GBC) judge and industry ambassador. As a former Chairman of CIMA Hong Kong Committee, and had been in the CIMA Council for 9 years, he led member engagement initiatives, supported student development, and championed the CIMA qualification among colleagues and emerging talent. His dedication and outstanding service have significantly strengthened the Institute and finance community.
