2026 Orientation ✨🎓

The time has finally come! To usher in the start of HKU Business School‘s 2026 academic year, top students from around the world gathered at the Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel on 27-28 August for their Orientation.

🎤 A Warm Welcome
To kick things off, Prof. Xin Wang, Associate Dean (Taught Postgraduate) gave the incoming cohort a motivating welcome speech – encouraging students to embrace new challenges and broaden their global horizons while pursuing personal growth.

💼 Academic and Career Empowerment
Ms. Ida Cheang, Executive Director of Masters Programmes, and Ms. Serena Tang, Director of Career Development and Training, introduced the wide range of administrative, academic, and career support services available to students, including educational planning, job preparation, and industry connections.

💭 Alumni Sharing
Drawing from their personal experiences, our alumni shared inspiring stories about studying at HKU and offered practical tips on navigating campus life and post-graduation plans.

🏠 Virtual House Team Challenge
Ms. Do Do So, Director of MSc Alumni and Student Services, introduced the Virtual House Team Building session, which gave students a fantastic opportunity to engage and connect with each other in a fun, relaxed setting, allowing them to experience the warmth and energy of our community.

📘 Course Overview
Our Programme Directors provided a comprehensive overview of their respective courses, covering key features, focus areas, and academic schedules. This session also helped students map out a clear academic roadmap to enhance their feelings of preparation.

“Master Your Global Career” Tour Hits Oceania – Full House Masterclasses!

🌏✈️In early August, our Admissions Team hit the road for “Master Your Global Career” tour across New Zealand and Australia. It was such a pleasure meeting so many talented students in Auckland, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.

🌟We truly believe Hong Kong is one of the best strategic hubs for young professionals to launch a global career. It was a privilege to introduce the city and share how HKU Business School’s diverse Masters Programmes can support students in achieving their academic and career aspirations.

👏In collaboration with the Financial Management Association of Australia (FMAA), we brought a Masterclass on Quantitative Trading to Sydney and Melbourne – and both sessions were a full house. We were delighted to showcase Hong Kong as a leading global financial centre with a broad spectrum of opportunities for business graduates – spanning finance, economics, AI and business analytics, accounting, global management, wealth management and marketing.

After graduating from UBC and returning to China for work, I wanted a programme that combined global business education with strong access to mainland career opportunities. HKU Business School offered the perfect balance of academic excellence, industry connections, and a professional network aligned with my long-term career goals in Greater China.

My Physics degree in Canada focused heavily on theory and independent learning, while HKU's FinTech programme is much more applied and industry-oriented. The biggest adjustment was the emphasis on teamwork, which has helped me learn from classmates with diverse academic and professional backgrounds.
