趁住立春開筆，祝大家新一年： 春風得意、魚躍龍門（無論係事業定興趣都游得順順利利），亦如揮春一樣，喺屬於自己嘅畫布上，盡情寫出最靚嘅一頁！

As soon as Lichun arrives, spring vibes sneak right in! This year, We got hit with another super heartwarming Lunar New Year gift from our talented calligrapher classmate, Miss Chung: her personally brushed fai chun scrolls and an insanely thoughtful custom frame for them!

Every stroke packs power and flows with such lively spirit — just looking at them fills the room with instant festive joy and good energy. Besides showering us with New Year blessings, Miss Chung is currently grinding hard for her piano exam grades this year, and just a few months back, her works were featured (and got tons of love!) at calligraphy exhibitions in both Hong Kong and mainland China. Total multi-talent goals!

Taking this “start of spring” moment to kick off the new page, here’s our wish for everyone in the coming year: Whether in career leaps or hobby wins — swim strong and steady!), and just like those fai chun strokes, grab your own life canvas and boldly paint the most epic, beautiful chapter yet!

【Be vigilant against Nipah Virus Infection】

Nipah virus infection is an emerging zoonotic disease. Fruit bats are the natural host for the virus. Nipah virus can affect a wide range of animals including pigs, horses, goats, sheep, cats and dogs.

Human infection is mainly transmitted through direct contact with sick animals via their contaminated respiratory droplets, nasal secretions and tissues. It can also be transmitted via consuming food contaminated with urine, droppings or saliva from infected bats, usually fruits or fruit products (particularly raw date palm sap). Human-to-human transmission is also possible through close contact with contaminated secretions and excretions of infected persons, which has also been reported in patients’ families and healthcare setting.

Patients infected by Nipah virus can be asymptomatic. Early symptoms include flu-like symptoms like fever, headache, vomiting, sore throat and muscle ache. Other symptoms include dizziness, drowsiness and decrease in consciousness. Severe cases may develop complications like pneumonia, seizure, encephalitis, coma and even death. The case fatality rate is around 40% to 75%. Among the patients who survive acute encephalitis, around 20% of them may have persistent nerve problems.

Symptoms usually start to develop around 4-14 days after exposure, but it can be as long as 45 days.

There is no vaccine available for prevention of Nipah virus infection at present.

The public should adopt the following measures to reduce the risk of infection when travelling to places affected by Nipah virus:
✅ Avoid contact with wild animals or sick farm animals, especially bats, farm pigs, horses, domestic and feral cats.
✅ Avoid areas where bats are known to roost.
✅ Observe good personal hygiene; wash hands frequently with liquid soap and water, especially after contact with animals or their droppings/secretions, and after taking care of or visiting sick people.
✅ Observe good food hygiene; fruits should be thoroughly washed and peeled before consumption. Fruits with signs of bat bites or found on the ground should not be consumed. Avoid drinking raw date palm sap, toddy or other juice.

又到中秋🌕 在此佳節，與大家分享兩首契合節日的樂曲。首先是貝多芬的《月光奏鳴曲》。🎹 此曲為貝多芬於1801年創作的《第14鋼琴奏鳴曲》，全曲分三樂章，打破傳統奏鳴曲「快-慢-快」的結構，採用「柔板-小快板-急板」的獨特設計，從第一樂章的靜謐到第三樂章的激昂，會帶領聽眾經歷一場心靈之旅。許多學生鍾愛第一樂章的靜謐之美，但也有人覺得略顯沉悶，正如品嚐月餅，各人喜好不同——您今晚會又選冰皮月餅還是傳統白蓮蓉月餅？🌙

Mid-Autumn Festival is here again 🌕 On this festive occasion, We would like to share two pieces of music that resonate with the holiday spirit. First is Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata (Piano Sonata No. 14). 🎹 Composed in 1801, this sonata has three movements, breaking from the traditional “fast-slow-fast” structure with a unique “Adagio-Allegretto-Presto” design. From the tranquil first movement to the passionate third, it takes listeners on a spiritual journey. Many students adore the serene beauty of the first movement, though some find it a bit somber—much like choosing mooncakes, preferences vary! Will you pick snowy mooncakes or classic white lotus paste mooncakes tonight? 🌙

The second piece is Wang Jianzhong’s Colorful Clouds Chasing the Moon. Its piano rendition captures the poetic flow of moonlight, with a beautiful melody infused with Eastern charm, perfectly suiting the Mid-Autumn mood. 🎶 The original piece is technically challenging, often featured in advanced piano exams. We recommend listening to Yundi Li’s performance for its exceptional reference value.
