✨ Looking Back and Moving Forward: 5 Years of ACBS-HK! ✨

We have successfully held our Committee Meeting and Annual General Meeting on 25th June! It was a wonderful opportunity to connect, reflect on our past projects’ success, and dive deep into the development and planning of our ongoing initiatives and future outlook.

As we mark the 5th year since the inauguration of our Chapter, we are incredibly grateful for the strong foundation built over our first four years. Looking back at our recent milestones:
* 🌟 We successfully completed our Advanced ACT Training Modules led by renowned international experts Dr. Robyn Walser and Dr. Darrah Westrup.
* 💻 Following that training, we hosted a series of 6 online case group supervision sessions from October 2024 to August 2025. With a sound participation, it was an incredibly fruitful and practical experience for everyone involved!
* 💬 The 6th ACT Exchange Forum co-organized with MIND HK and the 7th forum on ACT for youth, both drawed over 100 passionate participants!
* 📚Since 2025, we’ve been editing a pioneering Chinese book on ACT theory and practice adapted to the HK context, collaborating with local universities and healthcare agencies.
* 🌱 We also reviewed our current local Chinese ACT training program and case consultation series, which is actively running to support Chinese-speaking practitioners in honing their clinical skills.

Reflecting on our first Local ACT Case Consultation! 🤝🧠🌿

We’re feeling grateful after last week’s meaningful hybrid session. Two courageous participants shared their cases, giving us all rich opportunities for learning and clinical reflection.

Huge thanks to our facilitator, Dr. Joyce Chao, for guiding these complex discussions with clarity and clinical wisdom. Her key takeaway: “Embody ACT as therapists.” We’re human first—let’s meet our own shortcomings with compassion.

Instead of just talking about theories, our speakers re-enacted an incredible, live-simulated therapy in our first talk, “The Essence and Wisdom in Learning and Doing ACT,”. Participants got an embodied look at how ACT’s three core pillars—Acceptance, Awareness, and Action—actually look and feel in the therapy room. It was a powerful reminder that ACT is not just a clinical modality, but a practical way of living: responding to human pain with openness, mindfulness, and values-guided steps. 🌿🧠

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in person and online! We look forward to supporting our community of clinicians and helping professionals as we continue this journey through our upcoming talks and supervision sessions. 🤝. 兩位講者跳出了死板的理論框架，透過一場精彩的即場模擬治療示範，讓台下及線上的觀眾親身體驗到 ACT 的三大核心思想——Acceptance、Awareness 與 Action 如何生動地應用於臨床環境中。🎤🧠💬

We officially kicked off our local ACT Training Program and Case Consultation series on Wednesday evening! We were thrilled to co-host this wonderful event alongside the Division of Clinical Psychology of the Hong Kong Psychological Society.

Our first session, “The Essence and Wisdom in Learning and Doing ACT,” led by Dr. Joyce Chao and Dr. Tony Wong, brought the core principles of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy to life. 🎤
