It’s with immense pride and gratitude that we share the news that our school’s steelband has secured 2nd in the 2025 Mashramani Steelband Panorama competition! 🌟🎶

The competition was nothing short of fierce, with every band giving their all and bringing their A-game. The atmosphere was filled with passion, talent, and drive, and despite the tough battle, we managed to come out on top with second place. This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering dedication and hard work of every band member. Each one of you poured your heart into this, and this success is a true reflection of your dedication and commitment.

We want to extend our deepest and most heartfelt thanks to all those who supported us — both financially and morally. Whether you helped fund our journey or offered words of encouragement, you played an integral role in this victory, and we are forever grateful.

A special thank you goes out to our instructor, Joshua Drakes whose commitment and passion for the steelband have been the backbone of the Berbice High School Steel Orchestra. His tireless efforts, endless patience, and love for the music have shaped not only our performance but also our growth as musicians and individuals. Mr. Drakes, your belief in us has driven us to achieve more than we thought possible, and for that, we are forever thankful. You are the heart and soul behind our success, and this achievement is as much yours as it is ours.

We are also incredibly thankful to our brilliant arrangers, Adrian Benjamin and Andrew Charles , who once again crafted a masterpiece of an arrangement. Your vision, creativity, and dedication went far beyond the call of duty to help prepare the band and bring out the best in us. We are forever grateful for your hard work and commitment to excellence.

A big thank you as well to Leyland R Tinnie a past band member, who selflessly chipped in and gave his support during this journey. Your willingness to return and help us in any way you could speaks volumes, and we appreciate it deeply.

Once again, thank you to everyone who helped make this victory possible. We couldn’t have done it without you, and this is just the beginning.
Here’s to many more milestones ahead!

"Berbice High School kicked off its 108th anniversary celebrations with a fitness walk led by our talented school steelband, setting the tone for a day of excitement and unity. The walk was followed by an energizing Zumba workout session and a special cake-sticking ceremony to mark this incredible milestone. Students spent the rest of the day enjoying a variety of indoor games, and we were delighted to have past students join us in these festivities, bringing a sense of nostalgia and pride. Congratulations to Berbice High School on 108 years of excellence and tradition—here's to many more successful years ahead!"
