🦺 Building a Safer Future Through TVET Collaboration! ✨
From a historic launch to a truly memorable learning experience, New Amsterdam Secondary School is proud to have been part of the inaugural Basic Industrial Safety Training Programme hosted by the New Amsterdam Technical Institute (NATI) at its newly commissioned Occupational Health and Safety Centre of Excellence.
We extend our sincere gratitude to the administration, instructors, and students of NATI for selecting NA Multi, as the first secondary school to benefit from this innovative initiative and for providing our students with an invaluable opportunity to develop a deeper understanding of workplace safety and occupational health practices.
Over the course of the four-day programme, our students were exposed to critical safety concepts such as Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment, Life Saving Rules and Actions, and the importance of building a strong safety culture within technical and vocational environments.
The experience went far beyond theory. Our students actively participated in practical hazard identification exercises, engaged with NATI students, explored safety technologies such as the Let’s Capture It app, and gained hands-on exposure to essential safety equipment including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), the Virtual Fire Extinguisher, Self-Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), and other specialised training resources.
This collaboration provided our students with a unique opportunity to see safety not merely as a requirement, but as a responsibility and a mindset that must be carried into our classrooms, workshops, workplaces, and communities.
As a school committed to strengthening Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET), we recognise the importance of partnerships that bridge the gap between secondary education, industry standards, and future career pathways.
New Amsterdam Secondary School expresses heartfelt appreciation to NATI for this historic training and for investing in the development of our young people. Through collaboration, exposure, and empowerment, we continue to prepare our students to become the skilled and safety-conscious professionals of tomorrow.
