🇬🇾 Happy 60th Independence Anniversary, Guyana! 🇬🇾
Today, 26th May 2026, the Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre joins all Guyanese at home and abroad in celebrating Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.
As we reflect on 60 years of nationhood, we honour the courage, sacrifice, and vision of those who paved the way for our freedom and development. This milestone reminds us of the importance of unity, hard work, education, skills training, and national pride in building a stronger Guyana.
At MTVTC, we remain committed to empowering our trainees with the technical and vocational skills needed to contribute meaningfully to Guyana’s continued growth and transformation.
May this Independence Anniversary inspire us all to serve our country with pride, discipline, and dedication.

🎉 MTVTC Guyana 60th Independence Domino Competition Successfully Concluded! 🇬🇾
On Friday, 22nd May 2026, the Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre was filled with laughter, excitement, friendly competition, and community spirit as we hosted our Guyana 60th Independence Domino Competition.
Congratulations to all participating teams, and special congratulations to our winners:
🥇 1st Place: Guyana Police Force
🥈 2nd Place: Mahaicony Secondary School Teachers
🥉 3rd Place: Guyana Water Inc.
🏆 Most Valuable Player (MVP): Inspector G. Nicholson – Guyana Police Force
🏆 1st Love Trophy: Ms. Kiea Wilson – MTVTC Trainee
MTVTC extends sincere thanks to our Board of Governors Chairman, Mr. Recardo Phillips, and Deputy Chief Education Officer – Technical, Dr. Ritesh Tularam, for their generous donation of trophies for this event.
We also thank all organizations, staff, trainees, and supporters who helped make this activity a success. The day truly reflected unity, fun, sportsmanship, and national pride as we celebrated Guyana’s 60th Independence Anniversary.

The Mahaicony Technical and Vocational Training Centre extends sincere appreciation to the Small Business Bureau Guyana (SBB) and the Ministry of Education - Guyana for facilitating a successful four-day Entrepreneurship Training Programme for selected MTVTC trainees.
This important initiative has helped to strengthen our trainees’ understanding of business development, entrepreneurship, and self-employment opportunities.
Special thanks are also extended to Ms Dianne James, SBB Trainer, for her dedication, guidance, and engaging delivery throughout the training.
MTVTC remains committed to empowering trainees with the skills, knowledge, and mindset needed to become productive citizens and future entrepreneurs.

MTVTC proudly shares this significant milestone in the development of technical and vocational education in Region Five.
The commissioning of our new Academic Block by the Honourable Minister of Education, Sonia Parag, marks a major step forward in expanding access to quality TVET training for our students and communities.
With eight new state-of-the-art classrooms, MTVTC is now better positioned to serve more trainees, strengthen skills development, and support national growth through technical education.
We extend sincere appreciation to the Government of Guyana, the Ministry of Education, and all stakeholders who continue to invest in the future of TVET.
