All children deserve a good start in life. Some children need additional support to develop in a way that is healthy and maximizes their potential for success. Unfortunately, many developmental issues are not unearthed until children start school; several years after early intervention services could put them on a typically-developing track. Identifying these children early would give them the best opportunity for life success. ~ J. Campbell

Best Practices in Developing Timely Intervention:
1. Identify specific areas of deficiency in fluency, phonics, phonemic awareness, comprehension or vocabulary.
2. Specify the desired levels of performance in each area.
3. Describe the instructional, programmatic, and support services be provided.
4. Specify the methods and schedule for progress monitoring.
5. Account for attentional, behavioral, and environmental variables in diagnosis and intervention planning.
6. Include the patents as partners in planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions.
7. Provide explicit instruction and performance feedback to help intervention agents delivery as planned (treatment fidelity).
