The website serves to provide information on the Guyana Prize for Literature and the Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award.
It provides details pertaining to the birth of the Prize, the history as well as shorted listed works and winning works from inception. The website also provides brief biographical data on the prize winners. In addition, the details pertaining to the criteria of entry submission for both Prizes are provided. Updates on all activities (training workshops and information relating to the Award Ceremony) are also uploaded for viewers benefit.

Shortlist for Guyana Prize for Literature 2014 (Caribbean Award)
The Management Committee of The Guyana Prize for Literature announces the Shortlist for the 2014 Caribbean Awards in Fiction, Poetry and Drama. The Caribbean Award, inaugurated in 2010, is open to writers who are citizens of any Caribbean territory. The Shortlist was decided by the Jury, an independent panel of writers, critics and experts in the fields of literature, drama, culture and the arts: Dr Stewart Brown (Chairman), Reader in the Centre of West African Studies, University of Birmingham, UK; internationally acclaimed poet, artist, editor, anthologist and critic; Rawle Gibbons, foremost Trinidadian and Caribbean playwright, theatre director, researcher in cultural studies and traditions, drama anthologist; Prof Jane Bryce, published prose writer, Professor of Film and Literature, UWI, Cave Hill, Editor of Poui Cave Hill Journal of the Arts, lecturer in Creative Writing, and critic. The winners will be announced at the Awards Ceremony in Georgetown on November 29. The Shortlist are accompanied by the way Jury described each title.

THE GUYANA PRIZE FOR LITERATURE

The Guyana Prize for Literature wishes to advise of the following schedule for the award of The Guyana Prize for Literature:
-The shortlists for the Guyana Prize in Fiction, Poetry
and Drama, including First Books of Poetry and Fiction, will be announced on October 31, 2015;
-The Shortlists for The Guyana Prize for Literature Caribbean Award
in Fiction, Poetry and Drama will be announced on October 31, 2015;
-The Awards Ceremony is scheduled to be held on November 29, 2015 at 7.00 pm;
-All the awards for The Guyana Prize
(for Guyanese writers) and the Caribbean Award (open to all Caribbean writers, including Guyanese)
will be announced and presented at that ceremony.
The Guyana Caribbean Prize was first awarded in 2010 when the winner for Fiction was Haitian novelist Myriam Chancy, withThe Loneliness of Angels, and the winner for Poetry was Guyanese Mark McWatt,withThe Journey to Le Repentir.
