A Special thank-you to Alumna, H.E, Arya Ali, First Lady of the Co-Operative Republic of Guyana, for the work she has done in improving our school environs to be better suited for students, teachers, and visitors to the school, especially as it relates to her formal adoption of our centenary garden, a central installation in our school's history.

In addition, Her Excellency's announcement of the Arya Ali Award for Excellence in Mathematics, which will be conferred at our 2026 Graduation Exercise for the first time, marks a further commitment to our school community that is especially meaningful.

Please join us at 6:30pm today for our Night of Reflection in memory of Mr. Nathram Raghubansi and Ms. Susan Sheorattan on the School's Patio.

As a school community, we have experienced great sadness at the beginning of this New Academic Year.
At a time when we come together to usher in new experiences and opportunities, we must also now face the realities of losing two shining stars of our SJH Family.

Therefore, the Administration of St. Joseph High School will be hosting a Night of Reflection on the school's patio, on Thursday, September 03rd, 2026, from 6:30pm, as we meet to relish in the memories of the lives of two of our own, Mr. Nathram Raghubansi, and Ms. Susanna Sheorattan.

Please, feel free to join us in this time of dedication as we reflect on their service to our school, and on the individual impacts they have had on our lives.

On behalf of the Board of Governors of St. Joseph High School, Administration, Staff and Student Body, we extend condolences to the family, relatives and friends of Ms. Susanna Sheorattan, a beloved educator of our school.

The passing of Ms Sheorattan has brought a deep blow to the current staffing of our school, where she served as our Graduate Head-of-Department of Agriculture Science. Ms. Sheorattan was a dedicated member of staff, passionate about her subject area, and committed to her students and their success. Her most recent graduating class, the class of 2026, admirably received a 100% Pass Rate at the 2026 CSEC Examinations, a testament to her hard work and resolve to seeing the success of her students.

Ms Sheorattan joined the St. Joseph High School family in October, 2018, upon her appointment as GHOD of Agriculture Science. Previously, she was employed as an Assistant Mistress at Tutorial High School (now Austin Castello Tutorial High) between the period 2005-2018, and prior to that at Vergenoegen Secondary from 2001-2002.

Ms Sheorattan has left her mark on our school in many ways, and all in a positive light. As a school community, we not only mourn her as an educator and life-changer, but as a person of great humility, character and virtue.

May she Rest in Peace.
