In Guyana, the month of October is observed as Fire Prevention Month. As part of the observance, the Fire Officer gave a talk to children from different grades to raise awareness about fire prevention. During the talk, the students were given more awareness of the impact of fires on buildings and what they should be doing to prevent them.

Green Acres School and the rest of Guyana would like to congratulate our warriors for winning last night's competition! Guyana Amazon Warriors (GAW) won the 2023 Caribbean Premier League (CPL) by defeating Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) by 9 wickets with 36 balls remaining in the final match. This is their first CPL championship after 5 runner-up finishes in previous tournaments. GAW had a dominant performance throughout the season, winning five consecutive matches in the group stage and topping the table with 12 points. They also had some outstanding individual performances, such as Dwaine Pretorius who was player of the match in the final with his four-wicket haul and Saim Ayub who scored a half-century in the chase. GAW's victory was a historic moment for Guyana cricket as they finally realized their long-awaited dream of winning the CPL trophy. They have also received praise and support from fans and cricket experts for their consistent and impressive displays of skill and teamwork.
