To commemorate Indigenous Heritage Month, observed annually in September, the Social Studies Department organized a vibrant cultural program and a cook-off competition today. The event aimed to raise awareness, educate the community, and showcase the rich history, crafts, and culinary traditions of Guyana's Indigenous peoples. Following a rigorous judging process, Weld House was officially crowned the winner of the cook-off competition:
• 1st Place: Weld House – 365 points
• 2nd Place: Butler House – 345 points
• 3rd Place: Ethridge House – 344 points
• 4th Place: Galton House – 335 points

As students of Saint Stanislaus College, we join hands this September in promoting su***de prevention awareness month and reminding everyone that YOU MATTER.

We hope to promote empathy and support for all who may be struggling. Sometimes, it’s enough just to know that somebody cares.

Today, the St. Stanislaus College community observed World Su***de Prevention Day.

To demonstrate our support and heighten awareness, our students wore yellow T-shirts. This gesture served as a meaningful reminder that no individual must face adversity in isolation.

We extend our gratitude to the teachers, staff, students, and Ministry of Education officials for their contributions to this initiative and for fostering ongoing dialogue regarding mental health. We remain committed to supporting, listening to, and looking out for one another in our daily lives.

Today, on World Su***de Prevention Day, the Ministry of Education joins the global call to raise awareness, encourage compassion and remind every student, educator and family that no one should face difficult moments alone.

Every life holds promise, and every voice deserves to be heard. A conversation, a listening ear or simply checking in on someone can make a meaningful difference. Let us continue to build caring and supportive communities where seeking help is encouraged and every person knows that their life matters.
