The very first Easter Stamps issued by Independent Guyana in 1968

Pair of the first EASTER Postage Stamps issued by Independent Guyana.

This pair of 5c and 25c Postage Stamps were the first EASTER Postage Stamps issued by the Guyana Post Office in 1968.

These Postage Stamps depicts in stunning details, The very RARE and Famous Painting of "Christ of St John of the Cross" done by the renowned Spanish Artist Salvatore Dali in the year 1951.

It depicts Jesus Christ on the cross in a darkened sky floating over a body of water complete with a boat and fishermen. Although it is a depiction of the crucifixion, it is devoid of nails, blood, and a crown of thorns, because, according to Dalí, he was convinced by a dream that these features would mar his depiction of Christ.

Also in a dream, the importance of depicting Christ in the extreme angle evident in the painting was revealed to him.

Who still remembers the little blue AIR MAIL Stamp/Label that appeared on some of your mails back in the day?

These Stamps were called "AIRMAIL ETIQUETTES" (French for labels or stickers). Air mail stickers are instructions to postal officials. This exhibit shows the use of etiquettes. They were labels or stickers that indicated mail was to be sent by air. They were typically blue oblongs with the words "AIR MAIL" or "PAR AVION" in white.

All airmail Stamps/Labels are distributed free of charge (never sold) they have no monetary value.

This particular one is probably the most common etiquette 1960's--1980's. A generic Air Mail sticker, printed by a private stationer
sometimes both wings are white, other time just one wing.
