June is National Cancer Survivor Month, a time to recognize the strength and resilience of those who have faced cancer and the people who support them along the way.
In this week’s UOG Horizons: Knowledge for Life, Remylynn B. Yamanaka highlights National Cancer Survivor Month and the importance of supporting survivors throughout their journey. While surviving cancer is a tremendous victory, many survivors continue to face physical, emotional, and financial challenges. Across Guam, the Guam Cancer Trust Fund and community organizations are helping cancer patients and survivors by providing essential services, resources, and ongoing support.

Congratulations, Kyra Dela Cruz!
Kyra Dela Cruz graduated from UOG's Bio-Med program at Fañomnåkan 2026 Commencement and is heading to UC Berkeley's Herbert Wertheim School of Optometry & Vision Science this fall — one of the top optometry programs in the country.
But before she packed her bags, she founded POPS (Pre-Optometry Professional Society) at UOG, giving future students the connections, clinic exposure, and peer network she had to build from scratch.
She's carrying Guam with her — and plans to bring it all back home! 🇬🇺
