Ser y estar: To talk about location use Estar:

Yo estoy en casa.
Tú estás en la playa.

Nosotros estamos en la piscina.
Ellos están en la sala.

The verb "to be" has two verbs that are equivalent in Spanish: Ser and Estar

To be : Ser

yo soy, tú eres, él /ella /usted es, nosotros somos, ellos/ ustedes son.

To be: Estar

yo estoy, tú estás, él/ ella/usted está, nosotros estamos, ellos /ustedes están.

When a word does not follow one of these two rules, it wil have a written accent on the syllable that is stressed.
