Volunteer Work
Humanitarian Volunteering
Information about humanitarian volunteer placements and internships should be provided free of charge. Be wary of organizations that charge for this service. Humanitarian work should not become a business.

Volunteer Opportunities
Many students come to Antigua, Guatemala to learn Spanish and decide to dedicate their time and skills to helping local communities in Antigua itself and in surrounding villages. The administration of the Don Pedro de Alvarado school is in contact with several organizations. These organizations are constantly seeking volunteers in the following fields: teaching, nursing, childcare, animal husbandry, construction, agriculture, and care and assistance for the disabled and elderly. We would be happy to help our students who are interested in volunteering find an internship with a reputable and honest organization. We will provide this service free of charge.

Our programs include Spanish courses, full-board homestay accommodation, and, for those who wish, placement with a local NGO (this service is free). Payment for Spanish courses and homestay accommodation is made weekly, so students can stay as long as they like. Of course, there is no obligation to volunteer; we are first and foremost a Spanish language school. 36 years of excellence in Antigua
