I used to think I wanted to travel the world - be a ‘nomad’ and be constantly on the move.

But then I came to Madeira, and well, everything changed.

I now suddenly have a wardrobe full of clothes and a cabinet full of hair products waiting for me there.

And nothing fills my heart more than to listen to to my loves grandfather sing his favourite songs while his family gather around to listen on his veranda.

Madeira overwhelms me with so many emotions, all at once.

It’s a place where you are constantly reminded that YOU are at the mercy of Mother Nature - I’ve experienced an earthquake there and seen the damage that mudslides, forest fires and falling rocks can do.

Madeira holds so many exciting opportunities for me to explore and I’m constantly thanking God for leading me to this beautiful paradise

What does freedom look like to you?

It feels like just last summer we were driving around in your VW Golf, listening to our favourite songs, staying out late, watching the stars, finding out about each other…

But my love, It’s somehow been 4yrs?

4yrs of fu***ng peace, truly. It hasn’t been ‘easy’ and no ones relationship is perfect, but I’ve never had to question your loyalty to me and that speaks volumes.

I can’t think of anything I would change about you, or about us.

I’ll keep this caption short, because my Capricorn moon likes to keep her cards close to her chest but…

Power in my long thick hair and the way my clothes effortlessly hug my skin.

We are at a crucial point in history right now for women and if we don’t choose to empower ourselves, then who will?

I am a woman whose powers know no limits. I am the patriarchs nightmare.

And I would have it no other way.

Today I was trying to think about what my dad has taught me.

At first I couldn’t think of anything.

And then my mind began to wonder. Sadly of the negative memories I have of him.

Of when he called me a jack of all trades for having lots of hobbies.

Of the way he is very conditional in how he shows his love.

Of all the broken promises and disappointments.

But as I moved through all these sad memories, I realised he has already taught me the greatest lesson a parent could teach their child - especially their daughter.

That being: how not to treat your children.

Not only that, but through his flaws, I have been able to see what type of father I want my own children to have.

And spoiler alert: he will be NOTHING like my dad.

My dad has also taught me to not have expectations of people, that way they can’t hurt you.

I’ve also realised through him that parents aren’t always right and they don’t have all the answers.

He has inadvertently taught me valuable lessons around money and finance. He has shown me what NOT to do with my money.

He has demonstrated the importance of ancestral healing and what happens when we don’t try to work out and resolve family issues.

And so, as you can see, he has taught me huge life lessons that I can take with me even when he’s no longer roaming the earth.

And for that I’m eternally fu***ng grateful ❤️

Who else gets so wrapped up in the present that you forget about all of the wonderful places you’ve explored, the experiences you’ve had and the people you’ve met along the way?
