A.S.A.T. (Aristotle Space and Aeronautics Team) was founded in November 2015 by a group of Mechanica Since its first steps, A.S.A.T.

A group of ambitious Mechanical Engineering students founded A.S.A.T. in November 2015, considering it a means for making aerospace sciences more widely known and accessible to the general public. has been supported by the Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics & Turbomachinery of AUTh’s Mechanical Engineering Department, under which it operates. More than five years after its foundation, our team has expa

nded to a great extent and now consists of students from different academic backgrounds, ranging from polytechnic to economics-related fields of study. We are currently focused on 2 technical Departments - Aeronautics and Rocketry. The Aeronautics Department was established in 2015 with the purpose of designing and constructing Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs), eligible for participating in a global aerospace competition, called Air Cargo Challenge (A.C.C.). Our team has excelled, having achieved the 10th and 12th place worldwide in the A.C.C. 2019, and continues to work tirelessly on innovative ideas, such as the creation of a Solar UAV for the prevention of wildfires in forests! The foundation of the Rocketry Department in October 2016 marked the expansion of A.S.A.T.’s activities in the field of experimental rocketry. Its members have designed 5 rockets, the latest ones reaching an apogee of 10000ft A.G.L. At the moment, our team is preparing for its participation in the Spaceport America Cup (S.A.C.), the biggest student rocket competition, which will take place in New Mexico during the summer of 2021! From its early moments, Rocketry has viewed new challenges with enthusiasm, thus carrying out various R&D projects, such as the manufacturing and testing of a SRAD M-Class motor and the manufacturing and testing of Airbrakes, which is a brand-new chapter for our team! Since its foundation, A.S.A.T. has taken great steps towards achieving its ultimate goal, which is the promotion of aerospace sciences within the Greek academic community through a journey of knowledge, cooperation and fun!

🇬🇷 Το ταξίδι μας στο Air Cargo Challenge 2026 ολοκληρώθηκε, αφήνοντάς μας γεμάτους πολύτιμες εμπειρίες και αποτελέσματα!✈️
Η ASAT έδωσε τον καλύτερό της εαυτό ανάμεσα σε 35 κορυφαίες πανεπιστημιακές ομάδες από όλο τον κόσμο. Μετά από απαιτητικές πτήσεις, τεχνικούς ελέγχους και έντονο ανταγωνισμό:
Αναδειχθήκαμε η #1 ομάδα στην Ελλάδα,επιβεβαιώνοντας το επίπεδο της αεροναυπηγικής στη χώρα μας. 🏆
Κατακτήσαμε την 11η θέση στη γενική κατάταξη, αποδεικνύοντας ότι η σκληρή δουλειά και η επιμονή μας στέκονται επάξια σε επίπεδο.
Στο τομέα της αεροδιαστημικής όμως, οι προκλήσεις είναι πάντα μέρος του παιχνιδιού. Μια πρόσκρουση κατά τη διάρκεια των πτήσεων δεν μας επέτρεψε να φτάσουμε στο μέγιστο των δυνατοτήτων του αεροσκάφους μας.
Αλλά η ουσία δεν είναι να μην πέφτεις. Είναι να ξέρεις πώς να ξαναπετάς. Αντιμετωπίσαμε τις δυσκολίες κάτω από πίεση, μάθαμε από τα λάθη μας και βγήκαμε πιο δυνατοί.💪🏻
Είμαστε περήφανοι για την προσπάθεια και τη σκληρή δουλειά όλης της ομάδας. Ένα τεράστιο ευχαριστώ στους χορηγούς μας που έκαναν αυτό το project πραγματικότητα.✨

🇬🇧Our journey at the Air Cargo Challenge 2026 has come to a close, leaving us with invaluable experiences and results!✈️
ASAT gave its absolute best competing against 35 elite university teams from all over the globe. After demanding flights, rigorous technical inspections, and intense competition:
We emerged as the #1 team in Greece, showcasing the high level of aeronautics in our country.🏆
We secured the 11th place in the general standings, proving that our hard work and perseverance can rightfully stand at such a level.
In the aerospace sector, however, challenges are always part of the game. An impact during the flights prevented us from reaching the maximum potential of our aircraft.
But true success isn’t about never falling. It’s about knowing how to fly again. We faced these difficulties under pressure, learned from our mistakes, and emerged stronger.💪🏻

🇬🇷Γράφουμε ιστορία! 🚀
Είμαστε στην ευχάριστη θέση να ανακοινώσουμε την επιτυχημένη δοκιμή του πρώτου πυραυλοκινητήρα υγρών καυσίμων στη Νοτιοανατολική Ευρώπη!
Μέσα σε μόλις 3 ημέρες, πραγματοποιήσαμε 4 επιτυχείς εναύσεις, χρησιμοποιώντας ως προωθητικά υγρό οξυγόνο και αιθανόλη, επιτυγχάνοντας ώση 5kN! 💥

Η επιστροφή μας στον διαγωνισμό δεν είναι απλώς ένας ακόμα σταθμός, αλλά η συνέχεια μιας μακράς και επιτυχημένης παράδοσης. Έχοντας ως εφόδιο την πολύτιμη εμπειρία των προηγούμενων ετών, η αεροναυπηγική μας ομάδα επιστρέφει στον διάδρομο απογείωσης πιο έτοιμη και αποφασισμένη από ποτέ.
Τους τελευταίους μήνες εργαζόμαστε ακατάπαυστα για τη σχεδίαση και κατασκευή ενός άκρως ανταγωνιστικού UAV, με στόχο να σηκώσουμε το Αριστοτέλειο Πανεπιστήμιο Θεσσαλονίκης ακόμα πιο ψηλά.🏆

🇬🇷Για 2η συνεχή χρονιά, η ASAT σε συνδιοργάνωση με την βάλαμε σε τροχιά τα όνειρα της επόμενης γενιάς επιστημόνων και μηχανικών! 🛰️✨
Ο μαθητικός διαγωνισμός CanSat ολοκληρώθηκε με επιτυχία, αποτελώντας πλέον θεσμό και σημείο αναφοράς για τη STEM εκπαίδευση στη χώρα μας. Είναι τεράστια η χαρά και η περηφάνια μας που βλέπουμε το πάθος αυτών των παιδιών για την αεροδιαστημική να παίρνει σάρκα και οστά μέσα από τον σχεδιασμό, την κατασκευή και την εκτόξευση των δικών τους μικροσκοπικών δορυφόρων.
Ένα μεγάλο μπράβο σε όλες τις μαθητικές ομάδες για το υψηλό επίπεδο των εργασιών τους, καθώς και στην ομάδα της ESERO Greece για την άψογη συνεργασία. Η ASAT συνεχίζει να στηρίζει έμπρακτα την αεροδιαστημική κοινότητα και να εμπνέει τους επιστήμονες του αύριο! 🙌🚀

🇬🇷Σε συνέχεια των των δοκιμών στη Θεσσαλονίκη και το Εργαστήριο Μηχανικής Ρευστών και Στροβιλομηχανών του ΑΠΘ, η ASAT ανακοινώνει με ιδιαίτερη χαρά την επιτυχή ολοκλήρωση της διεξαγωγής πειραμάτων thrust tests με τον κινητήρα που θα χρησιμοποιηθεί στον διαγωνισμό Air Cargo Challenge 2026 καλύπτοντας όλο το εύρος ταχυτήτων:
Ο δεύτερος γύρος πειραμάτων πραγματοποιήθηκε στην αεροσήραγγα του Εθνικού Μετσόβιου Πολυτεχνείου με στόχο την επιλογή της βέλτιστης προπέλας που το αεροσκάφος μας θα φέρει στον διαγωνισμό.✈️✨

Μέσα από τη συνεργασία μεταξύ ακαδημαϊκών φορέων και ομάδων με κοινό πάθος για την αεροδιαστημική πραγματοποιήθηκε ένα σημαντικό βήμα για την εξέλιξη και τη βελτιστοποίηση του project μας.🛫

🇬🇧Following the tests conducted in Thessaloniki at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki’s Laboratory of Fluid Mechanics and Turbomachinery, ASAT is pleased to announce the successful completion of thrust tests for the engine that will be used in the Air Cargo Challenge 2026 competition, covering the full speed range.
The second round of experiments took place in the wind tunnel of the National Technical University of Athens, with the objective of selecting the optimal propeller configuration that our aircraft will carry in the competition.✈️✨
Through collaboration between academic institutions and teams that share a common passion for aerospace, an important step has been achieved toward the advancement and optimization of our project.
The trust and support we receive are a constant source of inspiration and motivation for us to keep designing, improving, and aiming even higher.🛫
