✔ support intersectional approaches in education
📚 These practices will support teacher educators and schools in building more inclusive learning environments.
Stay tuned as we continue sharing inspiring examples!
G-Steam Academy
G-STEAM Academy is an Erasmus+ Teacher Academy project that brings gender inclusion into STEM through arts-based teaching.
It builds a vibrant educator community, develops training resources, pilots new practices, and promotes mobility across Europe.
🤝 We are excited to announce a new synergy between G-STEAM - Gender-Sensitive Teacher Training in STEAM Education and ERTA – Educational Robotics Teacher Academies!
Together, we are joining forces to promote inclusive, creative, and innovative teacher education across Europe. By connecting our communities, expertise, and educational approaches, we aim to support educators through collaboration, co-creation, and the development of inspiring learning opportunities for all.
This partnership reflects our shared commitment to empowering teachers, fostering inclusion, and shaping the future of STEAM and educational innovation.

👩🔬 Women Who Lead in STEAM #3
Answer: Gladys West — the mathematician behind GPS 🌍
Dr. West joined the U.S. Navy in the 1960s and played a pivotal role in the development of global positioning systems by modeling the geoid — the true shape of the Earth — with unprecedented accuracy.
In the 1980s, she used the IBM 7030 Stretch computer to program complex algorithms that factored in sea levels, gravitational pull, and tidal forces. Her work became the backbone of the modern GPS.
🗺️ Today, whenever you hear “Keep left at the fork,” you're hearing the legacy of Gladys West.
📢 G-STEAM continues to strengthen its research and dissemination impact across Europe!
At ICGR 2026, a full conference paper on G-STEAM was accepted and presented by LIST, contributing to the ongoing dialogue around gender-inclusive STEAM education and innovation. Visit the website of the conference here: https://conferencealerts.com/show-event?id=272115 OR https://www.academic-conferences.org/conferences/icgr/
At ModACT 2026, LIST also presented a poster focused on the G-STEAM skill set and the use of Situational Judgment Tests (SJTs) for activity analysis, highlighting innovative approaches to competence development and educational assessment. Visit the website of ModACT here: https://www.modact.net/programme-2026
These contributions were peer-reviewed, officially accepted, and published in the conference proceedings, reinforcing G-STEAM’s commitment to evidence-based research, academic collaboration, and transformative teacher education.
👏 Congratulations to the LIST team for this important achievement!
🧠 GUESS WHO? #3
Before Google Maps, before turn-by-turn directions — she was calculating the Earth’s shape, by hand and by code.
She joined the U.S. Navy in the 1960s as a mathematician and programmer. Her mission?
To measure the Earth — precisely — and forever change how we find our place on it.
🔍 Clues:
🖥️ She programmed one of the earliest supercomputers
🌍 Her algorithms helped define the shape of the planet
📡 Without her, GPS as we know it wouldn't exist

During the G-STEAM international training in Bologna, mentors participated in the “Supernove” laboratory led by Carlotta Vitale — an inspiring arts-based STEAM experience combining storytelling, theatre, and multimedia narratives to explore the visibility of women in science and gender equality in STEAM education. ✨
Through creative and participatory methods, the workshop invited participants to reflect, connect, and reimagine the relationship between science, art, and society.

✨ The International Mobility Training Programme for G-STEAM Mentors has successfully taken place in Bologna, Italy (29–30 April 2026)!
Over two inspiring days at the University of Bologna, mentors from across Europe came together to explore gender-sensitive and intersectional approaches in STEAM education, while strengthening their skills in mentoring and co-creation methodologies.
From critical reflections on inclusive pedagogy and decolonial perspectives to hands-on activities and collaborative toolbox design, the programme offered a rich and meaningful learning experience.
💬 We are very pleased to have received highly positive feedback from participants, highlighting the relevance, practicality, and impact of the training.
🚀 We now look forward to continuing this journey together through the upcoming online training phase, further supporting educators in building more inclusive STEAM lea
