Call for Participation
The European Association for Signal Processing (EURASIP), the Greek Association for Image Processing and Digital Media (GAIPDM), member of the International Association for Pattern Recognition, and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki invite you to attend the 1st Seasonal School on “Learning from Signals, Images, and Video”. The school aims at introducing undergraduate/graduate students, Ph.D. candidates, young researchers gained their degree recently, and practitioners to all aspects of current and future digital media processing and analysis, employing associated technologies. Digital media refer to content found in audio, images, videos, written or aural speech, and biosignals. To analyze such content, one needs to step into the fields of Signal Processing, Computer Vision, Pattern Recognition/ Machine Learning, Computational Intelligence with emphasis on Deep Learning, Robotics, and Artificial Intelligence. These fields are exactly addressed in the school. Besides theoretical advances, the attendees will gather practical experience through hands-on workshops and participation to hackathons. The seasonal school provides the attendees an excellent opportunity to develop skills in some of the most dynamic fields in processing and analysis of big data extracted from multimedia, social networks, and the web. Moreover, they can present their own research results and plans in poster sessions and interact face-to-face with distinguished academicians each day. A certificate of attendance will be handed to all attendees.
The Summer School will take place at Amphitheater III of the Aristotle University Research Dissemination Center (KEDEA) between Monday, July, the 15th to Thursday, July, the 18th, 2019.
On Thursday, July, the 18th, 2019, Professor K.N. Plataniotis of University of Toronto, Canada, will lecture on “Machine Learning in Engineering: Panacea or Deep Trouble?”. This lecture is open to the academic community, being part of the Distinguished Lecturer Series “Leo the Mathematician” of the School of Informatics.
A daily excursion to Kavala and Thassos is planned on Friday, July, the 19th, 2019.
All lectures will be offered in English.
