🌱 What if travelling could leave a POSITIVE footprint?
Regenerative tourism changes the way we think about the role of a visitor.
Instead of asking tourists only to reduce their impact, what if we invited them to actively contribute to the place they visit? 🌍
🇪🇸 HUELLA POSITIVA in Navarra, Spain, shows what this can look like in practice.
The programme includes tourism experiences in which visitors become active participants in protecting and restoring the local environment.
🐦 installing nesting boxes for local bird species
🌸 restoring native meadows and wildflower habitats
🌱 helping recover traditional agricultural varieties
🤝 connecting visitors more closely with local communities
The idea is simple but powerful: the environmental contribution becomes part of the tourism experience itself.
Instead of being passive consumers of a destination, visitors become active contributors to its future.
The result?
15 regenerative tourism experiences have been created, bringing together tourism operators and local stakeholders while strengthening environmental awareness and territorial identity.

As Mathemagenesis, we’re excited to contribute to the discussions, share our experience from Greece and explore inspiring approaches to community gardening and sustainable urban development.

We can hardly wait for BeCom partners to come together again — this time in Berlin and Magdeburg, from 24 to 29 August 2026.

The week ahead brings together three themes that define the BeCom mission: Bauhaus heritage, sustainable urban development, and community gardening initiatives. The programme includes a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site "Bundesschule Bernau", a workshop at the environmental and cultural centre "NIRGENDWO" in Berlin, and intensive working sessions plus visits to urban gardening initiatives (IKUGA, Stadtgarten Sonnenbad, Elbauenpark) in Magdeburg.

This is an opportunity for partners from five countries Rogepa FA Magdeburg El Risell sccl Mathemagenesis to exchange good practices, advance the project's core tools, and define the next steps toward a shared goal of turning heritage spaces into sustainable, inclusive community hubs.

Do you know a local route, place, activity or experience that deserves to be highlighted?

Through the Erasmus+ project SEEDS & SKILLS, we are collecting examples that show how tourism can support local communities, protect nature, celebrate culture and promote more responsible travel.

Your proposal can be simple: a walking or cycling route, a cultural visit, a gastronomic experience, a workshop, a community initiative or any local place-based activity that supports the community, respects the environment or highlights local identity.

🌱 What skills will shape the future of regenerative tourism?

The SEEDS & SKILLS partnership is developing a new Competence Framework designed to help tourism professionals, educators, and learners build the knowledge and skills needed for a regenerative future.

Based on research across five European countries and input from 255 stakeholders, the framework identifies key competences in:

✅ Regenerative Tourism Experience Design
✅ Community Co-creation
✅ Digital Skills & Technology Integration
✅ Financial Sustainability for SMEs
✅ Risk Management & Resilience
✅ Nature Restoration & Stewardship

This framework will form the foundation of the upcoming SEEDS & SKILLS training program and learning resources.
