Καλημέρα σας,
διεξάγω έρευνα σχετικά με την ενσωμάτωση της τεχνολογίας στα Κέντρα Ξένων Γλωσσών, Ιδιωτικά Σχολεία και Εταιρείες που δραστηριοποιούνται γύρω από τον κλάδο της ξενόγλωσσης εκπαίδευσης.
Η έρευνα γίνεται στα πλαίσια του Διατμηματικού Μεταπτυχιακού Προγράμματος του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου '' Γλώσσες,Επικοινωνία και Διοίκηση Υπηρεσιών Εκπαίδευσης στο σύγχρονο κοινωνικό, οικονομικό και τεχνολογικό περιβάλλον''.

Θα σας ήμουν περισσότερο από ευγνώμων αν μπορούσατε να αφιερώσετε 5-7' για να συμπληρώσετε αυτό το ερωτηματολόγιο.

Look at what that sign in the middle says:

“The College and Grounds are private property. Visitors are asked to be as quiet as possible, and to respect the privacy of those who live and work here.”

Somewhere in the centre of this building was Newton’s room when he was an undergraduate student here - in one of Cambridge’s famous colleges - our guide told us.

I stood in awe of this sight for a while before taking the picture. What a sharp and dramatic contrast with Greek reality where signs like this would be mocked, disrespected, vilified and/or even destroyed instantly by some anarchist element. Then I smiled at the sheer naivety of my thoughts. How would anyone in my country relate to and identify with this kind of a college campus and academic reality in the first place, let alone have the audacity – or humour, rather - to put up signs like this?

For days on end, I was wondering what it would be like if some of this culture were to be shared and adopted by some universities in my country where politics would have no say whatsoever in education. Talk of wishful thinking..

World famous actor Arnold Schwarzenegger posted a photo of himself sleeping on the street, under his famous bronze statue with the caption:

"HOW TIMES HAVE CHANGED" ...

The reason he wrote this was no other than a blatantly broken promise. When he was the governor of California and opened that hotel with his statue, the hotel management told Arnold:

"You can come at any time you like and we will always have a separate room for you."

When Arnold resigned as governor and one day he expressed the wish to stay in this hotel, the administration refused to give him a room, arguing that he should pay since the hotel was almost fully booked. So he brought a sleeping bag, lay down under the statue and explained what he wanted to convey:

"When I held office and was in an influential position, they always respected me, admired me and congratulated me, but when I lost this position, so many simply forgot all about me and didn't keep their promise. I’m not trying to teach anyone anything, just the reminder that when you are "important" in people's eyes, everyone pretends to be your friend. But once they stop benefiting from you, you will not matter. You are not always who you think you will always be, nothing lasts forever. People come and go; everyone's interests change overnight. And if an ex-governor has this to say to you, it doesn’t mean that he ever regretted offering his services to the community he served; don’t let me be misunderstood…”

2.Pierre Curie (Physics in 1903),

and their daughter

3.Irène Joliot-Curie (Chemistry in 1935).

WILL ANOTHER FAMILY IN WORLD HISTORY

EVER BREAK THIS RECORD OF RECORDS???

This quote is by Marcel Proust and it’s interesting and thought-provoking. So what’s its deeper meaning?

Maybe that places are simply material destinations. Do they make us feel better? Perhaps in the short-term; but in the longer term, what do they actually mean? Pleasure-seeking and human indulgence have no memory; they are like food and s*x; human nature is insatiable; we need the experience again and again and again. So journey to these destinations at some point ends always with the same strong desire in us to repeat it. What a vicious circle, what a Catch-22!

How about changing the destination for ourselves in terms of nobler pursuits? Personal honour, broadening our awareness of the world, the quest of spiritual enlightenment, rising above the herd instinct and remaining untouched by either flattery or unfounded criticism, to name but a few?

We need to do this above all for us, but also encourage and inspire those around us, out of respect for those no longer with us and for those yet born to be with us… setting the example…

And in the midst of a(n)

unbearable / blistering / scorching / stifling / sweltering / relentless / searing / torrid / withering / murderous / oppressive heat wave,

I found out there was, elsewhere, an invisibly cold and arctic season…

And that brings me hope. For it says that no matter how hard and continual the drag force exerted by the foolish to dull our mind and assimilate us with the masses, within some of us, there will always be something far stronger and infinitely more powerful ablaze ‘out-burning’ this pathetic onslaught of mediocrity and inanity constantly unleashed on social media.

P.S.

I’ve talked to several people who still deliberately abstain from Facebook and listened carefully to what they had to say to me. They made the valid and perfectly legitimate point that most of what they see and read daily makes their eyes turn away in disgust. I, in turn, recommended selectivity and discernment in their choice of posts. There’s no other way out…

TESTING TIMES…

‘Grapes must be crushed to make w**e.
Diamonds form under pressure.
Olives are hard pressed to release oil.
Seeds grow in darkness.

Whenever you feel crushed,
Under pressure,
Hard pressed,
Or in darkness,

Whether you realize it or not, you’re in a powerful process of transformation.’

Therefore, whenever life shakes you (how sure it will happen) whatever virtues you embraced and values you conquered and you still hold dear inside you will come to your rescue, your meanness and shallowness to your downfall.

So you have to ask yourself. What are my qualities after all? What have I filled my life’s luggage with so far to shield me from the changing fortunes of time?

Courage, joy, gratitude, peace, humility, fortitude, generosity and love?
Or anger, selfishness, anger, bitterness, harsh words or reactions?

And see that life shakes and tests and examines far more times than you can imagine.

What goes round, comes round;

The unwritten law of poetic justice in life…

MIRACLES DO HAPPEN IF PLAYERS BELIEVE THEY CAN DO IT!

When deploying a team to undertake a challenging task, emphasise overall achievement and existing talent over and above the reputation of the opponent however formidable. Only by assembling those individual elements available - sworn to fight to the bitter end - can the small be transformed into the great. Group chemistry is of paramount importance, for harmonious working relationships are indispensable to the accomplishment of noble pursuits and solemn undertakings begun with and based on meagre resources.

Modesty stemming from recognizing our own limitations is a fine quality and legitimate concern, but it can also be seen as a weakness if not accompanied by ambition and drive.
