Rhodes Project SCE aims to become the "ground zero" of historical and social research referring to Rhodes island. It plans to become a hub of multidisciplinary scientific information in a "vertical" rather than "horizontal" approach of information focalisation. Guiding principle of Rhodes Project SCE is to highlight the surplus value of every research, especially in humanities and social sciences. There exists no distinction between useful and useless research, since knowledge is valuable by definition. To this extent, the Project is devoted in disseminating the results of research and stressing the opportunities for theoretical as well as material socio-economic impact. PRAXIS
Rhodes Project SCE materialises those values in its activities. It conducts high quality research. It promotes the publication of studies by its members. It facilitates external researchers, especially from abroad, in organising their research in Rhodes. It encourages the wide dissemination of research results. It brings together researchers and data or sources through this website, its forum and the organisation of or participation in workshops and conferences. MOTION
Research in a broad number of scientific fields is already being conducted. Particular interest is placed on history, sociology, politics, ethnography, linguistics, architecture and other arts. Suggestions for supporting research on physical, life, formal and applied sciences, that are anyhow related with Rhodes, are also into consideration. Vertical focalisation operates regressively. Rhodes Project SCE focuses on Rhodes island in order to connect with the world. Therefore, ultimate goal is to extent synergy with academic and other research institutions from across the world. Comparative and collaborative studies in various fields of interest are welcomed and indeed sought.
