🇪🇺 XR Meets Education: PAX General Assembly in Vienna

From 2 to 4 September 2026, the PAX partners met in Vienna for the project’s fifth face-to-face consortium meeting.

The meeting focused on the progress of key project outcomes, including the PAX XR Compass, the PAX Training Space, the Guideline for XR Developers and the experiences from the PAX Refinement Hubs.

Partners also explored XR in practice through a VR tour of Vienna and discussed the next steps of the project, including upcoming pilot activities and the PAX VR Days 2027.

What an extraordinary two days in Rhodes! The PAX Project Meeting and Conference at the University of the Aegean was a resounding success — exceeding all expectations!

Day 1 brought the consortium together for breakthrough workshops, live VR demonstrations of the PAX Training Space, and a magical evening exploring the medieval treasures of Rhodes. Day 2 opened our doors to educators, researchers, and students for an inspiring conference that truly showcased the transformative power of XR in education.

From immersive VR medical simulations to AR science apps, from thought-provoking keynotes to vibrant discussion circles — every moment was a testament to the passion and dedication of our incredible consortium and the local academic community. The energy in the room was electric!

Thank you to the University of the Aegean and the Department of Pre-School Education and Educational Design for the outstanding hospitality and the beautiful island of Rhodes for the perfect backdrop.

🇬🇷 PAX Project Meeting — Day 1 | Rhodes, Greece

The PAX consortium met at the University of the Aegean for an intensive day of collaboration, workshops, and live XR demonstrations. Partners from across Europe came together to advance our mission: bridging teaching and technology through research-based XR frameworks for educators.

Highlights of the day included hands-on VR workshops using XR headsets, a live walkthrough of the PAX Training Space on Meta Horizon, work package updates across the board, and a guided tour of the magnificent Palace of the Grand Master in Rhodes Old Town.

The University of the Aegean and EduTech Hub invite researchers, educators, and education professionals to the PAX Alliance Conference 2026, organised in the framework of the European project PAX — Pedagogical Alliance for XR-Technology in Teacher Education.

The conference addresses a critical question in contemporary education: how can extended reality technologies be systematically and meaningfully integrated into teacher training programmes?

Through keynote presentations, an applied workshop held in conjunction with the 19th International Conference on e-Learning & Innovative Pedagogies, and structured debate sessions, participants will engage with emerging frameworks, tools, and pedagogical approaches developed by the PAX consortium.

University of the Aegean as a Bridge to Europe

📍 University of the Aegean – Kleovoulos Building, Rhodes, Greece

The Department of Primary Education (PTDE) and the Department of Preschool Education Sciences and Educational Design (TEPAES), School of Humanities, University of the Aegean, are organising an open conference showcasing European research projects, digital tools, and innovative educational practices developed through their research activities.

The PAX Project — Pedagogical Alliance for XR-Technology in (Teacher) Education — will be presented during the event, highlighting developments in integrating XR technologies into teacher training and education.

The conference also features presentations from projects including EduTech DIH, SHOREWINNER, HEALTH HUB, RESIZE, CORE-ED Academy, DATA-READY, GREENDALE, PICTURES, STEAME Academy, and INFINITE, as well as a dedicated session by Goethe-Institut Athens on upskilling, reskilling, and international collaboration opportunities.

The event is open to educators at all levels, students, and members of the academic community.

On November 21st, Prof. Dr. Frauke Matz from the University of Münster presented PAX project findings to Master's students at the University of Salzburg.

Students explored immersive learning environments and worked hands-on with the PAX compass, a tool for evaluating XR technologies in language education.

Thank you to Prof. Matz for sharing her expertise and to Julia Weißenböck for organizing this valuable session.
