Rhodes Toy Museum Greece

The Greek toy museum is based in Archipoli (at the road to Psinthos) on the Greek island Rhodes.It contains 5000 Greek made toys from the 1930's to late 1980's!

Ρόδος 1-1- 2006 Σκοποί και δράσεις του συλλόγου ‘Φίλοι του Ελληνικού παιχνιδιού:

1. Συλλογή και έκθεση Ελληνικών χειροποίητων και βιοτεχνικών παιχνιδιών του περασμένου αιώνα με κεντρικό ενδιαφέρον το1930 έως το 1990

Παρουσιάσεις αυτών των παιχνιδιών σε μόνιμο έκθεσιακό χώρο του συλλόγου.
2.Καταγραφή και διάσωση των παραδοσιακών παιχνιδιών της Ρόδου, Δωδεκανήσου και του ευρύτερου Ελλαδικού χώρου.
Διοργάνωση εκδηλώσεων για την παρουσίαση των παροδοσιακών παιχνιδιών όπου μπορούν να συμμετάσχουν σχολεία , ιδιώτες, σύλλογοι κ.λ.π. με σκοπό την διάσωσή τους στις επόμενες γενεές.
3.Ευαισθητοποίηση των παιδιών για το περιβάλλον και την προστασία του με διάφορες δράσεις σχετικες όπως:
Κατασκευές παιχνιδιών που λειτουργούν με ηλιακή η αιολική ενέργεια.
Διάφορα διαδραστικά παιχνίδια με θέμα τις εναλλακτικές μορφές ενεργείας.
Διάφορες δράσεις σχετικά με την ανακύκλωση όπως κατασκευές παιχνιδιών από παλαιές συσκευασίες , σπασμένα παιχνίδια κ.λ.π
και έκθεσή τους στο πολιτιστικό κέντρο. To gather and exhibit Greek cottage industry and handcrafted toys of the previous century and especially from 1930 to 1990. These toys will be on permanent display at the society's exhibition area. Also at that space, will be hosted ad hoc thematic presentations of collectible toys as well as exhibits of children'sʼ personal collections of stamps, toys, models, coins, etc.
2. To record and preserve children's traditional games (such as hide and seek, leapfrog etc) of Rhodes, the Dodecanese and Greece in general. To organize events in a specially designed area, suitable in which to play these traditional games and where schools, individuals, clubs,
etc can take part in order to maintain and pass them on to the next generation.
3. To raise children's awareness on issues concerning the environment and conservation with relevant activities such as: Making constructions with toys which operate on solar or Aeolian (wind) energy. A variety of interactive games relating to alternative forms of energy. Activities relevant to recycling, such as making toys from used packaging, broken toys, etc. To organize and promote various events for children. Concerts, plays, puppet shows, Karagiozis (traditional shadow theatre) art exhibitions and competitions such as painting, photography,
ceramics, sculpture, handicrafts etc and their hosting at the society's cultural centre.
