🎧 CFP – Popular Music Across Southern Europe and Eastern Mediterranean: New Research Perspectives

We are excited to announce the open call for the PMG-IRC 3rd Annual Conference 2026, taking place 14–17 July 2026 in Delvinaki, Ioannina, Greece.

Building on recent epistemological developments in popular music studies, this year’s conference expands the geographical and analytical scope of our previous meetings. By turning our focus toward peripheral and semi-peripheral contexts across Southern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean, we aim to foreground alternative genealogies, infrastructures, and epistemologies of popular music in relation to contemporary social, political, and ecological transformations.

Με αφορμή την Παγκόσμια Ημέρα Μουσικής, παρουσιάζουμε την εκδήλωση «Πέρα από τα Όρια: Η Δημοφιλής Μουσική στην Ελλάδα Σήμερα», μία συζήτηση (σε ελληνικά και αγγλικά) και ζωντανή μουσική.

Με τους Yona Stamatis, Σίσσυ Θεοδοσίου, Ελένη Καλλιμοπούλου, Νίκο Πουλάκη, Ιωάννη Λογοθέτη (μπουζούκι), Κάτια Μάρη (ακορντεόν, φωνή) και Σπύρο Πρατίλα (πιάνο), μέλη της Διεθνούς Ερευνητικής Συλλογικότητας για τη Δημοφιλή Μουσική στην Ελλάδα.

Η εκδήλωση συνδιοργανώνεται από την Γεννάδειο Βιβλιοθήκη και το Ίδρυμα Fulbright.

On the occasion of World Music Day, we announce a panel discussion (in Greek and English) and live performance entitled “Beyond Borders: Popular Music in Greece Today” with Eleni Kallimopoulou, Nick Poulakis, Yona Stamatis, Sissie Theodosiou, Ioannis Logothetis (bouzouki), Katia Mari (accordion, voice), and Spyros Pratilas (piano), members of the Popular Music in Greece International Research Collective [PMGIRC].

The event is co-organized by the Gennadius Library and the Fulbright Foundation.

Join us on Tuesday, July 8, in Cotsen Hall (9 Anapiron Polemou Str., Kolonaki) at 7.00pm and online.
