For Giorgos, the Kypseli Municipal Market is a place where people can meet, learn, connect, and experience something new.

He remembers walking past the market as a child, when it was closed and barely noticeable. Today, it has become a place he actively looks towards, a space where there’s always something happening, something new to discover.

From art therapy workshops and concerts to bazaars and other activities, the market brings people together from across the city.

For young people, spaces like these offer opportunities to participate, connect, create, and become part of the life of their neighborhood.

Being online does not always mean being heard.

Every day, young people use digital platforms to learn, organise, advocate and connect. Yet many also face misinformation, harassment, hate speech and pressure that pushes them out of public conversations.

When people feel unsafe speaking online, democracy loses voices.

Reclaiming digital spaces means building communities where respect matters, information is reliable and everyone can participate without fear.

Because digital participation is civic participation.

💬 What would make online spaces feel safer and more inclusive for you?

For those bored just to be lying on the beach : ))

Out of office is temporary. Plastic pollution isn't. ♻️🌊

By 2040, up to 37 million tonnes of plastic waste could enter the ocean annually if we don’t act now.

Plastic pollution affects marine life, coastal communities and everyone who depends on healthy seas.

Wherever your holidays take you:
♻️ Sort your waste and recycle where facilities are available
🗑️ Pick up litter if you spot it on the beach
🏖️ Join a event, or organise one yourself

Every piece of plastic removed is a win for our ocean.

And remember: 80% of ocean plastic comes from land. Every clean-up helps stop it at the source.

Leave the beach better than you found it!

For Marianthe, the Kypseli Municipal Market in Athens is a place where young creators can share their work, connect with their community, and create lasting memories.

She also reflects on the loss of the Botanical Garden in Petroupoli, a once vibrant community space where young people gathered, created, and organised. Today, that energy is gone.

Reclaiming physical spaces means making sure young people have places where communities can continue to grow.

A city is not defined by its buildings, but by the opportunities it creates for the people who live in it.

When young people have access to safe public spaces, affordable housing, sustainable mobility and places where they can meet, create and collaborate, communities become stronger, more inclusive and more resilient.

Reclaiming physical spaces is about imagining cities where everyone has the chance to belong, participate and shape the future together.

Because investing in spaces for young people means investing in the future of our communities.

💬 What is one place in your city that has helped you grow, connect or feel part of a community?

A public space only fulfills its purpose when it remains open to everyone.

In her story, Vasso reflects on the old Kypseli Municipal Market (Athens, Greece) that has a "new life" as a place of culture, dialogue, and collective life.
A place where people gather, exchange ideas, and create community together.

That's why reclaiming physical spaces isn't just about preserving buildings. It's about ensuring that these places remain accessible to young people, collectives, neighbourhood initiatives, and anyone who wants to use them.

Because when public spaces are open to youth, communities thrive.

A city is more than its buildings.

It is the parks where friendships begin, the libraries where ideas grow, the community centres where people organise, and the streets where everyone should feel safe.

Yet many young people are being pushed out of the spaces they need most. Rising housing costs, inaccessible public areas, unsafe mobility systems and the commercialisation of urban life are making participation harder.

Reclaiming physical spaces means creating cities designed for people, not only profit.

It means affordable housing, accessible public spaces, sustainable mobility and places where communities can gather, create and belong.

💬 What public space in your community deserves to be reclaimed for people?
