This past week in the first annual Summer School was held for our departments MSc American Studies and New York University SPS Center for Global Affairs. Students of and had the opportunity to take part in a joint academic exercise exploring the US-Greece relationship.

Our MSc American Studies: Politics, Strategy & Economics students had the opportunity to meet with the new U.S. EMBASSY ATHENS to Greece, George J. Tsunis.
At this joint visit with New York University SPS Center for Global Affairs students, Ambassador Tsunis NYU alumni himself mentioned the following: “Excited to join students & faculty from my own alma mater The Center for Global Affairs at NYU New York University who are here in Greece as part of the Embassy-supported American Studies Master’s program with University of Piraeus and Council for International Relations - Greece ! These students are the future of US-Greece relations.”
MSc American Studies Director Aristotle Tziampiris stated: "Greece has great human capital and we need to put some of it to work to understand how the United states of America works. That’s our goal. To set a bridge of understanding between our countries."

April 11th 2022, The Department of International and European Studies of the University of Piraeus presented to Professor Paul A. Rahe of Hillsdale College the Themistocles Award.
Professor Paul A. Rahe, a scholar of ancient Greek grand strategy and leadership, in his acceptance speech touched on the importance of first understanding the situation of the strategist in order to understand the strategy.
