This national Policy Document and Guidelines provide a strong foundation for the responsible, ethical and pedagogically meaningful use of AI in schools. Within GenAI-EduMap, the Cyprus Pedagogical Institute brings this valuable policy expertise to our joint work on mapping national approaches, identifying implementation needs and developing evidence-based guidance for the responsible integration of Generative AI across European education systems.

We are pleased to see the document now available in English, supporting wider European collaboration and policy dialogue.

💡 Co-creating meaningful GenAI use cases for the classroom

On Tuesday, 7 July, AI Horizons in Education International Course 2026, we had the pleasure of facilitating an interactive GenAIEduMap co-design workshop with an outstanding group of educators.

Working in thematic teams, such as upper primary education, information technology, science, humanities and more, participants designed innovative classroom scenarios based on the GenAI-EduMap pedagogical framework.

Guided by principles such as original thinking first, critical evaluation of AI-generated outputs, and meaningful human-AI collaboration, they explored how Generative AI can support effective teaching and learning.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ The creativity and pedagogical insight of the participating educators exceeded our expectations. Each group presented inspiring ideas that will directly inform the development of the next generation of GenAI-EduMap platform workflows and classroom use cases.

Perhaps the most rewarding outcome was hearing educators express their willingness to test and validate these scenarios in their own classrooms, helping us ensure that the platform is built with teachers, for teachers.

☀️ A wonderful day at the AI Horizons in Education International Course 2026, where Spyridoula Stamouli and Vassilis Katsouros had the opportunity to present the session "Teaching in the Age of Generative AI: Opportunities, Risks and What Teachers Really Think".

A heartfelt thank you to Ellinogermaniki Agogi for the excellent organisation and warm hospitality. It was a real pleasure to contribute to the programme in such a welcoming summer setting!

A special highlight of the first day of ESIA was the contribution of our partner from the Institute of Educational Policy (IEP) – D. Kouloumpis, who presented the current framework, policies, and legal developments shaping the use of Artificial Intelligence in Greek Education. His presentation focused on national readiness, responsible AI integration, and the future direction of AI adoption in Greek schools.

💡 From ideas to classroom innovation: shaping the GenAI-EduMap use cases

Over the past weeks, our partners Luleå tekniska universitet /Luleå University of Technology, Πανεπιστήμιο Κύπρου | University Of Cyprus, Centre/ Trinity College Dublin, Ellinogermaniki Agogi and Athena Research Center have been working together to design the first set of pedagogical use cases that will drive the co-design activities of GenAI-EduMap.

The emerging scenarios go beyond using AI as a simple assistant. They explore how Generative AI can support:

🔹 Critical evaluation of AI-generated content and arguments
🔹 Creative writing, literary style analysis and authorship discussions
🔹 Media literacy, misinformation detection and fact-checking
🔹 Scientific inquiry and investigation design
🔹 Multilingual and inclusive classrooms
🔹 Collaborative learning, debate and reflection on AI suggestions
🔹 AI safety, ethics and responsible use of AI technologies

A common principle across all scenarios is that students think first, AI comes second. Learners are encouraged to develop their own ideas, arguments and solutions before engaging with AI, and then critically evaluate what the AI adds, changes or gets wrong.

The diversity of ideas proposed by partners highlights the project's ambition: to move beyond tool-centred approaches and develop meaningful, curriculum-aligned learning experiences that foster critical thinking, creativity, digital agency and AI literacy.

The next step is to refine these ideas together with teachers and students through national co-design workshops, transforming them into classroom-ready scenarios for piloting across Cyprus, Greece, Ireland and Sweden.
