DipTESOL - NOW MORE FLEXIBLE!

The Trinity DipTESOL (Master's Equivalent) has evolved into a more flexible, modern qualification (Level 7) that can be taken fully online or in blended formats, with 4 units completable within 1-3 years. Recent updates emphasise practical teaching, with online teaching practice options and updated digital certificate designs as of 2018.

Key developments include:
>>Flexible Modular Structure: The course is divided into four distinct units (Teacher Development, Research, Phonology, and Teaching Practice) that can be taken in any order.
>>Fully Online Option: The entire course, including teaching practice assessments (Unit 4) via Zoom, is available online.
>>Modernised Content: As announced in early 2026 by Trinity College London, the syllabus continues to integrate modern teaching approaches and digital tools to keep content relevant to current English Language Teaching (ELT) trends.
>>Updated Certification: From late 2018, certificate designs were updated to include enhanced security features.
>>Phonology Focus: Strong ongoing focus on phonology (Unit 3), often considered a key differentiator from the Cambridge DELTA.

The programme requires roughly 150 guided teaching typically completed over one year part-time.

🎯 UNDERSTANDING LEARNERS: A Key to Effective Teaching

At Applied Language Studies House (ALSH), we’re proud to offer the Trinity College London DipTESOL — an advanced, internationally recognised qualification that deepens your teaching expertise and prepares you for leadership roles in ELT.

🗓️ Next course begins: October 2025
💼 Flexible format | Expert tutors | International accreditation

One of the most insightful and transformative areas of the DipTESOL? Exploring the factors that shape how people learn — and how you, as a teacher, can adapt to them.

On the course, we examine:
--Multiple Intelligences (Gardner, 1983) – recognising that learners excel in different ways (linguistic, logical-mathematical, spatial, musical, bodily-kinesthetic, interpersonal, intrapersonal, naturalistic).
--VAKOG sensory preferences – understanding how Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, and Gustatory learning modes influence classroom engagement.
--Teacher roles – shifting between controller, prompter, participant, resource, and tutor to meet lesson aims and learner needs (Harmer, 2015).
--Cultural norms and background – appreciating how values, communication styles, and educational traditions impact learning behaviours.
--Motivational factors – identifying what drives learners, from intrinsic curiosity to external goals, and sustaining motivation over time.

By connecting theory with classroom practice, DipTESOL trainees learn how to:
--Design activities that reach all learners, regardless of intelligence profile or sensory preference.
--Adapt their role dynamically to create the best learning environment.
--Build culturally sensitive classrooms where all learners feel included.
--Harness motivation to maintain progress and engagement.

If you’re ready to go beyond the fundamentals and become a reflective, adaptable, and influential language teaching professional, the DipTESOL at ALSH will get you there.
