On the final day, Local Coordinators reviewed the main outcomes of the meetings, discussed future priorities and agreed on the next steps for the Alliance.
The week also highlighted INVEST’s strong connection with regional innovation ecosystems. Visits to local Living Labs and innovation environments enabled participants to engage with representatives of Business Joensuu and the Joensuu Entrepreneurship Society.

The programme concluded with informal networking and opportunities to continue discussions while experiencing the unique landscape of Joensuu.

On 4 June 2026, the INVEST Alliance participated in an important roundtable discussion at the St. Cyril and St. Methodius University of Veliko Tarnovo.

The event brought together universities, business representatives, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the National Evaluation and Accreditation Agency to discuss:
✅ the recognition and integration of micro-credentials into bachelor’s and master’s programmes;
✅ quality assurance for joint programmes developed with international higher education institutions;
✅ the changes needed to support common European accreditation standards in Bulgaria.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ekaterina Arabska, Vice-Rector and INVEST Local Coordinator at the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development, presented the Alliance’s experience and successful practices in building a new type of European University.

The INVEST Technical Office at the University of Córdoba took part in a SEA-EU training activity organised by the University of Cádiz on the design, accreditation and implementation of European joint degrees.

The sessions brought together professionals from 13 Spanish universities and focused on key aspects such as academic governance, quality assurance, student mobility, international accreditation, joint programme documentation, co-teaching, co-assessment and co-governance.

This participation supports INVEST’s wider work on innovative joint educational programmes and stronger European academic cooperation.

On May 27, 2026, the regional forum "Artificial Intelligence and Preschool Inclusive Education in the Era of Education 5.0" was held under the patronage of the Municipality of Veliko Tarnovo. This event is part of the key initiatives organized by the University of Agribusiness and Rural Development (UARD) to raise awareness and ensure quality within the INVEST Alliance framework.

🎓 The forum brought together over 30 leading experts in early childhood development and primary pedagogy. The event was opened by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Svetla Dimitrova (Rector of UARD) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Delyan Plachkov (Vice-Rector for International Cooperation and European University Alliance INVEST), alongside the Deputy Mayors of Veliko Tarnovo – Prof. Dr. Georgi Kamarashev and Mr. Neyko Genchev, as well as representatives from the Regional Management of Education.

💡 How is UARD translating the INVEST vision into practice? As part of our alliance's commitment to building a more sustainable and digital society, Mr. Andrean Lazarov from the UARD team presented cutting-edge pedagogical approaches. The core focus was placed on the application of generative artificial intelligence, phenomenon-based learning, and project-based learning to meet the needs of modern inclusive education.

🚀 New Horizons for Young Talents: The forum also marked the presentation of the newly established private secondary business school "Talantite – VT". As part of the UARD family, the school will nurture future leaders in the spirit of innovation embedded in INVEST's core values.

Day 2 of the INVEST meetings in Joensuu focused on impact, stakeholder engagement and student involvement.

The programme brought together the Steering Committee, students and industrial/regional partners to discuss how INVEST results can benefit students, stakeholders and regional ecosystems.

The day also included stakeholder and student reflections, Living Lab-related activities, impact discussions and the PR Team presentation on ongoing communication work.

The INVEST Rectors' Assembly opened today in Joensuu, Finland, hosted by Karelia University of Applied Sciences.
