Very fortunate to be invited to Leeuwarden to take part in a 3 day EU project. Working with educators from Finland, Belgium and the Netherlands.
On Monday we visited a secondary school which follows the Montessori method. Pupils receive daily coaching and follow their areas of interest, work in the community along with their core subjects.
On Tuesday we visited a library housed in a former prison.
A great experience to collaborate with educators from other countries and work towards a common goal.
I was fascinated by the school and university buildings and how they were so inviting and pupil centred.
A lot to think about and bring home with me.

Almost 2 days in Amsterdam.
Lots of food, plenty of wandering. Had a great walking tour on Saturday to learn all about the canals and crooked houses!
So many bikes and very little cars. Lots of lovely food and very friendly people.
A real treat to add an extra day to a work trip.

Watching the sun set for the last time from my balcony. A restful and energising week in Corfu at The Pink Palace. A massive, brightly painted kind of psychedelic resort that hosts fabulous yoga retreats.
Along with yoga morning and evening there was kayaking, hiking, shuttles to Corfu Town, tours of local sites or the option to chill at the beach. Definitely feel recharged!
Heading home with a tan and a plan to rewatch The Durrells to reminisce on this week in Corfu.

June-September for the weekly Heskin swims. From that first swim full of trepidation to being recognised as "the girls who go for chips".
Such a well organised series with the handicaps changing every week.
In training for next year already!

Aegina ✔️
Had a lovely few days in one of the closest islands to Athens. The days were spent on the beach but I did manage to fit in a little sightseeing.
The Temple of Aphaia was an uphill hike from Agia Marina and it was well worth the effort. No crowds and it reminded me of the Acropolis.
Aegina is also known as Pistachio Island so I enjoyed plenty of pistachios with the standard Greek yogurt!

Delphi ✔️
Hard to capture in photos but Ancient Delphi was amazing. We had a great tour to orientate ourselves and learn about the history. We carried on climbing up to the Ancient Stadium of Delphi.

Meteora ✔️
The first thing you see on arrival in Kalambaka are the huge stone mountains towering over the town, looking even closer you see monasteries at the top.
Built in the 14th century monks started by living in caves and then progressing to building the monasteries. 24 were built by carrying rocks up to the top, progressing to a pulley system that they still use today. 6 monasteries still function today and I visited 4: St. Stephans (nunnary), Holy Monastery of Varlaam, The Great Meteoron Monastery (324 steps to climb!) and Agios Nikolaos Anapafsas.
A lot of climbing, 41 degree heat but well worth it to see these amazing sites.
Game of Thrones and James Bond 1981 film were filmed there much to the consternation of the monks! Apparently they hung out washing in the background to spoil the shoot!

Athens ✔️
Visited the Acropolis this morning on a guided tour. The Theatre of Dionysos still hosts concerts. It was busy but not as crowded as it can get later in the day.
I decided to visit the Panathenaic Stadium in the afternoon. At 36 degrees it was not the time to run on the track but I did walk a lap!
We had a cookery lesson in the evening and it was our dinner for tonight. Luckily the instruction was good and the food was delicious!

The most amazing week on the Crete Discovery tour. Up to 5km a day in the clearest waters with the best group of people. We were based in a village only accessible by ferry. Each swim was followed by snacks and coffee on board and each swim was accompanied by support boats with drinks and sweets. Lucky to have 3 great guides Eoin, Georgia and Grace and a very capable boat captain Christian.
Lovely intro to Greek food each night in the restaurants, setting me up for the two weeks ahead!
