Today we explore the Sacred House in Dodona 🏛
Built in the 4th century BC, the ancient site of Dodona is located in the region of Epirus, very close to the current city of Ioannina. In the site, ancient Greeks built a temple dedicated to Zeus and his lover Dione.💑 It was called The Sacred House or The Hiera Oikia.
Today, there is no remainings except the foundations of it. However, people planted an oak tree next to the temple in order to simulate its approximate location. 🌳

Meet Demeter! Goddess of agriculture, fertility and harvest 🌾🍃🍂
Demeter was one of ancient Greeks’ favourite goddess who often called her “Mother”. As the goddess of agriculture, it was her duty to make the plants grow. She was the one that offered the wheat and the barley to the mortals and she was responsible of the rich harvests and fruitful crop and growing the trees in the forests. 🌱🌳
It is said that the island of Sicily was supposed to be under her special protection.

It is also referred as Theseion and is located in the Agora of Athens, below Acropolis. Built in 415 BC by Iktinos, the Temple of Hephaestus is one of the best preserved ancient temples in Greece.

Meet Hermes! God of trade, thieves and messenger of the gods 📧📬
Hermes was the son of Zeus and Maia. He was a young god full of joy. He liked to have fun and sometimes he made pranks on the other gods and laugh with them.
Hermes is also referred to as the messenger of the god. The young god could travel and fly fast all over Greece with the help of his winged sandals and winged helmet to transmit the orders and wishes of the gods.

Twin brother of Artemis, Apollo was the most beautiful and handsome god of Olympus. He was the son of god Zeus and the Titaness Leto, and he was born on the island of Delos.
When Apollo was still a baby, he flew above Central Greece and arrived in a lonely place located among the high mountains of Parnassus. In that spot, he built his own palace where he could develop his power of prophecy and he named it Delphi. There, the mortals could join the oracle to ask for their future or take advice from the high priestess of Delphi, Pythia.

Built in around 600 BC, the Temple of Hera is the most ancient monumental temple in Greece.
It is also referred to as Heraion. At first, it was dedicated to the earth mother Gaia and eventually became the temple of marriage and wife of great Zeus, Hera. 👸🏼

Artemis was born on the island of Delos, like her twin brother Apollo. Her parents were the god Zeus and the Titaness Leto.
