Join us for a presentation highlighting 30 years of the Getty Conservation Institute’s (GCI) work on the conservation of earthen heritage. The talk will showcase key initiatives, including the Earthen Architecture Initiative, the Seismic Retrofitting Project, and the Earthen Architecture Course in the UAE and Oman.

Presenters:
* Claudia Cancino – Senior Project Specialist leading the Earthen Architecture Initiative at GCI, with extensive international experience in earthen heritage conservation, preservation architecture, and training.
* Elena Macchioni – Project Specialist and conservation architect specializing in historic preservation, seismic retrofitting, and earthen architecture projects at GCI.

Moderator:
* Alessandra Sprega – Associate Project Specialist at GCI and conservation architect working on research, training, and seismic retrofitting projects within the Earthen Architecture Initiative.

Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Program organized by the School of Architecture, Technical University of Crete The School of Architecture of the Technical University of Crete organises two on-line sessions and a 5 day hands-on workshop on earthen art and architecture and sustainable practices, and a guided tour to local earthen architecture.

The hands-on workshop will be coordinated by professionals trained at CRAterre and will take place at Bioclimatic and Earthen Design Laboratory, at K4, University Campus Kounoupidiana, Chania (Crete, Greece).

Duration: 2 online sessions + 5-day hands-on workshop
